Clapper was chosen for that position exactly because he is not that sharp. I first realized this when Diane Sawyer asked him about a terrorist attack that had occurred that morning. “London. How serious is it? Any implications that it was coming here?” Clapper’s response: Silence. Crickets. Brennan jumped to his rescue: “You referred to London, but you didn’t talk about the arrests.” The attack was all over the news Monday. “I am glad,” Brennan said, “that Jim Clapper is not sitting in front of the TV 24 hours a day.” Apparently, he did not get daily briefings either.
Clapper continues the lousy efforts he does, for himself, just as when was the DNI.
However, I do look forward to the day that Clapper faces Justice for his involvement in this set up...

I don’t really disagree with Clapper’s main point. The whole issue should come to a head.
Cohen and Manafort are dirty. Period. That’s not good for Trump. I had always hoped he was smart enough to hire good people to do the jobs he didn’t have the expertise for. But clearly his judgement has lacked in certain cases. Kushner is another example.
We’ll see what happens. But I think Cohen knows where the proverbial bodies are buried.
