It is incredibly tacky to publicly disinvite somebody from ones funeral and make a big deal about it. And it is tacky to wear cocktail dresses to funeral.

McCain's funeral will be remembered for what a funeral should not be like and for anger and bitterness and for frantic politicizing, all of it overshadowing the positive that might have said about the late McCain.

I hope you are right. John McCain put a lot of effort into planning his funeral and legacy. I’m sure he did what he could to get Ducey to follow is wishes.

I have been to many funerals where family and friends have spoken. Of course some people are better speakers than others, but it usually comes from the heart so isn’t even taken as other public speaking would be.

I guess what I am trying to say is I have never heard anyone praise a family member for their speaking about a loved one at their funeral.

This whole thing is surreal, no class at all. There does seem to be a trend from the left to do that though and not just the “elite” left.

My brother’s ex wife passed away last year and his two (grown) children asked him to go with them to her funeral. During the service the person doing the eulogy went all into how tough she had it in life being a single parent after a horrible marriage. My brother was blindsided, their children were blindsided. The thing is their divorce was as civilized as is possible, he was not an absent father, always paid child support and paid for insurance and major purchases. He also went out of his way to help her with household repairs and other things that most exes will not do. They had been divorced 30 years, and she had been married to her husband for over 20. It was likely the idea of her husband, but why? What purpose did it serve? I am sorry but lefties have no class.

I think it is logical to surmise that McCain was the Webster's classic definition of CONTROL FREAK

Who in hell makes a petty little guest list like this for their own funeral? - that's a rhetorical question . . we all know who.

Greatest Naval Aviator War Hero Ever, Patriot, Bi Partisan, Friend of the Clinton, Bush and Obama families - - - evil little dickwad John McCain

Trump has a special talent for sensing vulnerabilities.

Why exactly do the McCains hate Trump so bitterly? Because he stuck a pin in John McCain’s personal balloon — the myth of heroism that underpins McCain’s entire career. McCain was neither intelligent (last in his class), nor wise (armed ISIS and helped create Syrian crisis; never met a war he didn’t like). Not known for probity (paging Mr. Keating) or integrity (cheated on and dumped his first wife for younger, less injured, much RICHER woman). No known acts of generosity or kindness. Impulsive, reckless, and ineffective. How did he get elected the first time and survive scandals? Hero myth.

Politically, McCain a practitioner of the Kim Jong Il method (the troublemaker gets the grease). Let others create stability, then move in as a “maverick” and leverage your contrariness so everyone bargains for your support or quiet.

Grieving? Pfft ... this seemed more like playing to the cameras. She was never not sobbing.

Only once did Meghan manage to pull it together.

Frankly, McCain proved himself to be the smaller man, with his ugly, invitation list to his funeral.

Yet his treatment of Sarah Palin, who stayed loyal, was a disgrace. His spiteful rejection of her was mean spirited and cowardly. Why couldn’t he do the big gesture? Why would not this non partisan giant of a statesman bring his intrepid running mate to the Last Supper of his life?

This renunciation of a loyal partner and patriotic woman whose son fought for America was uncalled for and speaks to his nasty, ungentlemanly side. He did not rise, he did not learn from this teachable moment, nor did he better himself or us with this small, vindictive act. McCain is not nearly the figure to whom this maudlin praise alludes. He is a politician, and in his dying moments chose to continue vicious partisan squabbles rather than exhibit the magnanimous gestures of the statesman that they all say he is. He left a bitter fool, and turned a religious ceremony into a political hatefest against his perceived enemies. The debacle was the absolute symbol of what has become wrong in American politics. It was McCain who deliberately chose not to bring people together.

It was a disgrace. A man now known by his hatreds. Politicized our most sacred ceremonies.

We now see that Sarah Palin was nothing whom he believed in, and all his high blown campaign rhetoric was just that. A cynical political stunt, by a cynical political man.

John, you could have made us proud, you could have invited your enemies to this final celebration and have everyone join hands, you could have shown America how to join together, but you chose partisan politics, and slap the other cheek.

Ironically, you are what you say you hate.

We should know Tuesday or so, whom Gov. Ducey will appoint to McCain's Senate Seat. Ducey is interested in furthering his political career. Therefore, I do not feel he would want to incur President Trump's wrath by naming Meghan McCain to her father's Seat. Nor Cindy either.

Just an opinion from a lay person. Non-Az resident.

I have had friends who reside out of state call to tell me how impressed they were with Meghan and loved her speech.

I was like, you’re kidding me and went on to tell them how bitter and angry and phony she is.

What's with the grimace pics?

I'll tell you one thing, she's not going to monkey up that 2500 dollar make up job with liberal tears.

"a grimace for the cameras should be fine" (Meghan)

It was a freak show...complete with John's daughter presiding over his casket while flinging blocks of cement from her very glass house.

And I could almost hear John McCain laughing his ass off at George W Bush.

And even John knew that Obama could not resist a podium with tv coverage...

yep the joke was on them after all.

oh, and miss lindsey will continue his fishing trip for friends...

I fear it might go on for more than week. I just stopped watching news.I can’t recall ever seeing such over-hype. Was coverage of the McCain and the funeral a ratings boost or bust?

I hear you. But Arizona kept electing McCain, so Ducey may not be too worried about picking a McCain to replace him. And Trump sticks with Republicans at election time, even when they double cross him..
