The commie former secretary of UNFCCC writes, “A recent World Health Organization report said that nine out of 10 people on the planet breathe dangerous air, and an estimated 7 million premature deaths a year are caused by air pollution-related diseases ... Fossil fuel combustion byproducts have been deemed one of the most serious threats to children’s health and global equality. Emerging evidence indicates that pollution from coal combustion and motor vehicles has been linked to development delays, reduced IQ and autism in children.”

BUT the lying [expletive deleted] is intentionally misleading her readers. Here’s what the WHO report actually says:

“More than 90% of air pollution-related deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries, mainly in Asia and Africa, followed by low- and middle-income countries of the Eastern Mediterranean region, Europe and the Americas.”

In other words, in places where the per capita combustion of fossil fuels is the lowest.

Why? The WHO report continues:

“Around 3 billion people – more than 40% of the world’s population – still do not have access to clean cooking fuels and technologies in their homes, the main source of household air pollution.”

The lying knucklehead says it’s due to burning coal and transportation fuels, but these poor people are dying BECAUSE of the ABSENCE of clean FOSSIL FUELS for cooking and low-cost, coal-fired electricity. Lacking access to low-cost energy from fossil fuels, these poor people burn dried dung, wood, paper, and straw in their smoky hovels.

However, I’m sure she’s persuasive to the typical WaPo reader.

It’s mostly outright lies.

Yes, the WHO report makes the estimates that she cites. She then goes on to condemn fossil fuels.

However, with even a cursory reading of the WHO report, it is obvious that the problem is due to indoor air pollution that arises from the use of sustainable fuels in low- and middle-income countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Sustainable fuels include dried dung, wood, paper, and straw.

If these poor people had access to fossil fuels and low-cost, coal-fired electricity, their mortality rates from indoor air pollution would plummet.

I’m genuinely concerned about their plight. I look forward to the day when they, too, have access to clean fossil fuels for cooking. However, I fear it will never come if anti-human misanthropes like Figueres get their way.

Al Gore the village idiot said so.

I guess a Cat 2 Hurricane, in September, in the Carolinas are news to these cretins of knowledge.

Christiana Figueres was executive secretary of the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change from 2010 to 2016.

She is the daughter of a former president of Costa Rica.

She is a member of the National Liberation Party, an affiliate of the Socialist International.

She has no scientific background that would make her qualified to make any pronouncement on climate change or atmospheric pollution. She is basically banana republic ruling elite.

It is unacceptable. It's long past the time we should have just punched you in the mouth and told you to stop your F***ing yammering about this phoney, made-up hoax to control Western industrial output.

A recent World Health Organization report said that nine out of 10 people on the planet breathe dangerous air...

Talk to China, India, Bangladesh and other "emerging" countries about that. We've pretty much cleaned up our act, especially in comparison to those places. They still burn their crap in barrels with kerosene.

"consensus" is NOT part of the Scientific Method.

And at one time a flat Earth as center of the universe and evil spirits as cause of disease were "settled science".

I don’t know how to draw the plot, but here’s the data for another very interesting curve of % of humanity in extreme poverty (<$2/day) and CO2.

Constant 1985$
$2/day CO2
poverty ppm
1850 .. 89.2 .. 285
1870 .. 85.5 .. 288
1890 .. 81.2 .. 294
1910 .. 74.9 .. 300
1929 .. 68.2 .. 307
1950 .. 63.4 .. 311
1960 .. 56.6 .. 317
1970 .. 51.2 .. 326
1980 .. 44.2 .. 339
1992 .. 39.9 .. 356
2010 .. 21.0 .. 389

Historical poverty data: Bourguignon and Morrison, World Bank 1999
CO2 data: NASA, https://data.giss.nasa.gov/modelforce/ghgases/Fig1A.ext.txt

R-squared for this data is 0.96. Near-perfect linear fit.

I doubt that there is a better r-squared statistic for any non-tautological relationship lasting over a century in the fields of economics or sociology.

It’s infinitely better than the climate models.

A paved parking lot I presume, already warmed by the sun?

Agreed on the headline. ;-)

"reduced IQ and autism in children."

Too many pregnant women have been smoking pot.

So this stupid woman wants to undo the industrial revolution?

When she decides to forgo the advances in food and medicine over the last hundred years and live in a grass hut in the woods then let me know.

Until then, she is just another leftist hypocrite.

Sorry, I wasn’t clear. I meant that I didn’t know how to put the Excel plot into an HTML post.

The point is that for all the worry about increasing CO2 in atmosphere, the fact is that humans have flourished with increases in CO2. The increase has improved the lot of humanity, not detracted from it. That is an inconvenient historical fact.
