Wasn’t it just a week or two ago that Fords lawyers were griping having 11 old white republicans questioning would be seen as sexist and bullying?
She WILL NOT SHOW UP.
For a number of reasons:
1. She can only lose ground/credibility being aggressively being cross-examined.
2. She won’t want to testify under oath facing felony charges for doing so.
3. Her strongest position is staying in the shadows, with the accusation itself getting 100% “credibility” from all liberals & media. She can only go downhill from there.
4. She knows she will be mercilessly attacked by conservativces and conservative media - a painful experience she cannot risk.
5. She’s a flake that didn’t remember this for 30 years until it came out in a “therapy session” - hard to make that even sound plausible - was the memory real or was it fabricated?
That is correct, and indicates that Ford was "lawyered up" from the beginning. Had Ford addressed the letter directly to Feinstein (or any Senate committee member considering Kavanaugh's nomination), it would be regarded as sworn testimony. But someone who studied the rules advised Ford to address the letter to an intermediary and thus avoid a perjury trap. This was all contrived well ahead of time. But Trump.
