I heard this morning on F&F that that is referred to as a “shared vote,” a process whereby one senator, as a favor to another, agrees to vote “present,” so that the absent senator can skip the vote, for whatever reason. It was a described as a professional courtesy, or perhaps just another arcane senate custom.
He didn’t.

Whenever “may” is said, “will” is a much safer bet. You know the old saying: what can go wrong will go wrong. (And it was an optimist who said that!)

That would be interesting gambit but one that would immediately backfire. I don’t think they’d try it as the optics would be very bad. They’d eventually have to show up, else effectively shut congress down for the tantrum. It’d be great to see though.
Prosecute them for terror crimes. Do that and they’ll get life in prison. Seriously, enough is enough. In this country we do not debate politics by committing terrorist acts. To me, these people who smash windows, burn cars, are no different from an Islamic terrorist blowing up a bomb. That Muslim who blew up bombs in New York city a few years ago got LIFE even though nobody was killed and all he did was damage some dumpsters.
