True, but if you say something people agree with in a funny voice or as a funny character, people will laugh.
Not because the line is funny, but because the impersonation is.
If people are presented with something that is in the form of a joke, and the agree with it, they will think that it is a joke and laugh at it, even if the words aren't actually funny.

I watched SNL since the mid 1970s. I stopped about 3 years ago. I had a hard time watching it for the past 10 years before that. It was always liberal. But during Obama it got down right 100% propaganda. No Obama jokes. During the nineties there were Clinton jokes. Plus Norm and Dennis were republicans. But now its just like watching a communist party video.

That shht was funny. It was in its own context, absurd, made fun of culture in general.
Hell even Chevy Chase doing Gerald Ford was funny, because he made fun of the man’s personal foibles - not trying to proselytize some political agenda.
