This is a nothing burger.
I don’t care what Mexico calls it in their own language.
So, how was it OK when it was NAFTA?
Well whaddya know. Mexican law actually respects the difference between an agreement and a treaty.
I agree.
They could call it
Envia adentro a los payasos! for all I care.
(Send in the Clowns).
Mexico should name it “How we pay for the wall”, or HWPFTW for short.
Do we have to name the thing in French, too?
We call our country the United States. They call it los Estados Unidos. Thats how different languages work-differently.
“Mexico’s president-elect wants to rename USMCA in Spanish”
That would be ACMSU.
How about....GFYM
We call our country the United States. They call it los Estados Unidos. Thats how different languages work-differently.

True, but they also call Mexico “Estados Unidos”.
Los Estados Unidos Mexicanos.
They call the US “Los Estados Unidos de América” for differentiation, or simply EEUU.
“We call our country the United States. They call it los Estados Unidos.”
We call our country America. They call it los Estados Unidos.
Hey Amigo, call it whatever you want.
A rose by any name is still a rose...
I understand that the words Estados Unidos appear in the official names of both countries. Id be willing to bet that when asked most Mexicans would say that the USA is what they think of when they hear the phrase.
No matter how you slice it, the words are different in English and Spanish. That was my point.
Some times we say America, sometimes the United States, sometimes the USA. Les États-Unis d’Amérique in French, vereinigte Staaten von Amerika in German. Of course its going to be different in different languages. As others pointed out, this article is a nothingburger.
MUSCA?
CUSMA?
USCMA?
USMCA?
They can call it what they want, but it’s not a treaty as far as the USA is concerned.
