There are reasons to believe that oil is naturally converted from organic compounds in the ground and is not really depleted but is simply being used a little faster than can be recreated.

The predictions were fun to re-read as I read them all as they happened. I am well over the 49 year life expectancy quoted.

While the United Nations tries to scare us with Globul Warming the scare of the early 70’s was global cooling and ice age. Now as I make sure my tongue is no where near my cheek I will talk about climate a little.

Climate does change. The normal condition of the earth is Ice Age. For the last 5 or so million years we have had ice age cycles of approximately 100,000 years with a 10-12 thousand year interval in between that we call inter glacial periods periods. We have been in the current inter glacial period over 10,000 years, an ice age is due. that doesn’t mean one is imminent it just means we are due. During inter glacial periods there are moderate cooling and warming periods, our climate is not some steady state as Mr Gore the stupid ex-vice president would have you believe. We have all I’m sure heard of the Roman warming period and some may have heard of a similar period called the Medieval warming period. Most people have heard of the Maunder Minimum but don’t understand that it was a cooling period or beginning of what we have called the mini-ice age that we are still trying to come out of. Even during the period of the start of the Maunder Minimum to now there have been many ups and downs some have names like the Dalton Minimum. What is interesting about these periods is that they correspond to periods of solar activity or inactivity. When the sun is very active, that is many sunspots then the earth is protected from cosmic rays and we have more sunshine. There are other very long time cycles that affect climate but these solar cycles are very easy to identify and predict.

We are currently in the beginning of a solar minimum much like the Maunder Minimum. Without sunspots there are more clouds. A normal number of sunspots would be somewhere in the vicinity of 200 or so a month, we currently have months with none or only a few spots, a little scary. It could be a harbinger of more clouds. With less sunspot activity the solar radiation reaching the earth is less. You would think more spots mean less radiation but the opposite is true. With less sunspots activity many more cosmic rays can get through the earths own magnetic fields and hit the atmosphere where they hit and often break molecules of various gases in the atmosphere and start the process of something for water vapors to stick to, creating clouds. You may have noticed that clouds are white and reflect sunlight. More clouds mean less solar radiation on the earth. Solar radiation in combination with Carbon Dioxide and water allow plant growth. Plants feed us and create our oxygen. Global warming produces more plants and thus more oxygen, cooling does the opposite.

A mini ice age would be a real problem, Siberia, Canada and much of China and Europe would not be able to grow grains because of the early frosts and longer winters. It really could mean a food problem.

The nice thing about capitalism is that it solves problems through profit, minus profit problems sometimes don’t get solved. Note to remember the Soviet Union and Venezuela.

Our government in this country and the United Nations have been lying to us for several years about Global Warming. We keep hearing about record high temperatures, this being the hottest year of record, etc. It is not true. It is true that thermometers that were in the wilderness are now in cities which means they are affected by the “heat island” effect. Temperatures for at least 5 years have been decreasing world wide. Over 90% of glaciers in the world are growing. The Greenland Ice is getting thicker and doing so at an alarming rate.

While there has been little change in Artic ice what change is mostly showing a decreasing ice pack at the North Pole. There are reasons for this. During low sunspot activity the Jet Stream has no constant pressure to maintain it’s stability so that it fluctuates wildly. That is Artic temperatures are brought into Canada, Siberia and Northern Europe as warmer air is placed farther north.

Northern Canadian cities are in trouble this year because the ice didn’t really melt this year and ships have not been able to get through to deliver supplies. There is currently an air lift to get need supplies to them before winter cold sets it, however, the snows have already started. Canadian Grain farmers will lose 60% of their crops for inability to harvest because of either a too short summer or inability to get into the fields because of rain and snow.

We are not in a normal setting right now, we ARE in the midst of a change of our climate.

If we are in a Grand Solar Minimum created mini-ice age then in 30 to 40 years we will likely come out of it. If we are in the start of an Ice Age, it will take a little longer, 100,000 years.

I personally don’t think Carbon Dioxide has any thing to do with planet wide warming, nothing. Carbon Dioxide represents 3/100ths of one percent of our atmosphere and human Carbon Dioxide contributes perhaps a tiny fraction of that three one hundredth of one percent.

There has never been a proof of the CO2 green house gas theory, that is why they call it a theory. there have been experiments that prove that it is not really a green house gas.

One volcano erupting may dump the equivalent of years of human created CO2 in to the air.

So what about all this? Warm is good, cold is bad. Give me the warming any day and pray it isn’t time yet for the next ice age either mini or main.

People in this country and in other western countries know more about how to treat people of other races or genders than they understand about where our climate comes from. Our society is dumbed down. I don’t know that it was a conscious effort to do that but it is true and the people don’t understand the world around them and have no desire to do so when they could be face-booking.

I expect that readers on the Free Republic know more than an average citizen. If they don’t they should be learning. Lets not let the wolves pull the wool over our eyes.
