Supported? Big Tech has acquired monopoly power over several sectors. They started out by being very libertarian and accepting but now that they have managed to build themselves into the monopolies they currently are we are seeing an ever increasing level of censorship.
That is unacceptable and it is time they were either regulated like utilities or broken up via antitrust actions brought by the DOJ.
I was ready to buy a small couple shares of stock. Then began thinking about a good idea from Victor Computer years ago. They just could not get their foot in the door. Hopefully there’s bandwidth for gab.
Please do not confuse aspects of free speech like pornography and racism as conservative values.
If that happens, conservatism will be dead - because it would be like the French Army when the Germans rolled them up in 1940. The French had what were widely regarded as the best tanks, the best artillery and some of the best aircraft in the world. What they didn’t have were widespread radio communication. The Germans slaughtered this superior force by the simple expedient of being able to change and adapt their plans as EVERY German tank and airplane had radios as did most larger infantry formations.
If your enemy has access to modern comms and you don’t, you lose. Check into the history of modern resistance movements since WW1 - there has never been a successful resistance since 1911 against a popular government (read: cowed/conned/sedated populace) that had media controls without massive outside technical and monetary assistance. Where would conservatives get assistance from outside the US?

Gab.ai could use bitmitigste.net as a DDS host running behind a Volxility.net cloud data center. Other free-speech sites use a similar arrangement, especially if on a tight budget. I think that’s what www.voat.com uses. They’d be better off switching to a ***.name registration to have a safe domain cloud. At least I hope that’s how Gab goes forward, or something similar.

Oh please. You don’t have to see either pornography or racism on Gab. To see pornography, one has to agree to see NSFW in one’s settings. As for racism, all one need do is mute the poster or such words that one doesn’t want to see which will preven one from seeing the post.

The idea of free speech, enshrined in the First Amendment, is the legacy of the Enlightenment. This idea was best encapsulated by Voltaire in the quote “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.”
An American conservative will defend to the death the right of individuals to say things he does not approve of, and indeed we have graveyards filled with individuals who have done just that.
Now that we know you are not conservative, I have to wonder if you are also not American.

Where do you keep getting this racism and pornography? It’s free speech so if a user doesn’t want to see such things, set it up in the settings to not see it. Once setup, you won’t see it again unless you are looking for something in particular, at which point you unset it to go find it such as I did this morning with the Nazi that murdered 11 people. His posts were muted; so I had to unmute to go see all that he had posted. Thank goodness I was able to do so or I would not have known what this guy was all about.
It seems a lot of people viewed Gab as their own safe space. Their own pretty little park where conservatives could go after they were banned from Twitter or Facebook. Well too bad too sad.
Conservatives there allowed the park to get nasty and dirty. I suggest these people were fooled and duped by leftist trolls who trashed their pretty little park and got the place shut down Why? Because conservatives were not strong enough to stand up against the hatred, racism and pornography.
