Sorry for the WaPo link, I just grabbed the article based on the headline.

I hear your point on regulations, etc., and I agree that these are the kinds of things that have an impact in the long run.

My point is that in the short to medium term any changes like this are overwhelmed by the inertia of the business cycle.

You posted a couple of dramatic graphs but they both deal with inputs to the system. If you look at almost any graph of economic outputs what you see is a continuation of the trend - the point I was making with my link.

None of this says anything about Trump or Obama, and Trump’s actions may have a dramatic impact eventually, but we haven’t seen it yet.

BTW, I think the biggest long term threat to the economy is the deficit/debt and what they’ve done so far sucks.

Look closely at the charts. Things started to turn around in November 2016 after he was elected.

Don't confuse the stock market with the economy.
