The video clip from CNN clearly shows Acosta forcing the interns arm down. I am wondering if CNN did alter the tape to use on their interview show with Anderson Cooper. I do not watch CNN so I do not know.
Just to be clear the 720p clip to which I linked is the C-Span pool video everyone has been using with, ummm, “modifications”.
Acosta is the CNN ‘reporter’.
Good to meet another Georgia FReeper!
Acosto struck the WH employee on the arm as she was trying to retreive the WH microphone.
This larger version of post #104 clearly shows at about 16 seconds that the little finger side of his left hand pushes down on her arm and her arm moved down. The edge of his bare hand was on her bare arm. He did more than "blocked" her. He intentionally pushed down. Blocking someone does not involving pushing them. (This is not football.) Bare skin is not the point, either. Even if only his covered arm pushed down on her arm, he was still out of line. Also, he had no business interfering with her doing her job, whether he was just blocking or if he pushed down.
Skin to skin is not the point. If I punch you in the face with a bare fist or one with a hanky on it makes no difference. I still punched you and the charges against me will be the same. Cloth does not lessen the charge.
Do you not see his arm/hand moving down? He put it up and brought it down while in contact with her. That is more than blocking. If I stand in front of a open door, I am blocking you from going through it. If while blocking you, I reach out, contact you, and push, I am doing more than blocking.
I’m sorry but what I see (and I have no intention to defend that jackass Acosta), is the gal reached out with her left hand to take the mic out of his right hand and in that position her arm ended up UNDER his left hand - no other way to look at it and there wasn’t any way for him to avoid coming in contact with her arm at that point. His left arm was raised when she reached under it and across to his right hand. I do not see any pushing down on her arm.
Of course, he should have given up the mic immediately out of respect for the president telling him to but that doesn’t excuse the exaggeration going on here today about him forcefully pushing her arm, purposely shoving her arm out of the way, karate chopping her arm blah blah blah..
You don’t think it’s a little bit much to expect someone to accept that the “little finger side of his left hand” caused the problem???
“”her arm is clearly moved by the action of his hand””
By the action of his hand or when she reached the mic with her left hand and tried to pull it out of his right hand? She had a job to do and she was trying to do it and satisfy the president’s wishes but she was in a tough spot. She looked very young, unsure of herself and it was easy to see that she was not comfortable especially with so many eyes on her.
This could go on all night and no one’s perception of what they saw will be changed. We all figure we have the best take on it. So be it. I’ll get ready for bed soon and forget it. Then I’ll have to watch Hannity so I can see how many times he interrupts his guests tonight.
She reached UNDER his outstretched left hand with her left arm reaching for the mic in his right hand. If she’d been standing in front of him, none of that would have happened but she was in an awkward position. They wouldn’t have come in contact with one another in a different scenario.
