From the article of this thread:

“Scientists at the cutting edge of ecological research, Dr. Hanson among them, argue that the century-old American practice of suppressing wildfires has been nothing less than a calamity. They are calling for a new approach that basically involves letting backcountry fires burn across millions of acres.”

Go back and read the article, then try to understand what the policy is and what your position is.

My position is keep the status quo policy because this new idea of letting fires burn is stupid.

The fact that you think this is a “new” idea shows how little you know.

You mean this part?

“They are calling for a new approach”

No, I mean you have no reading comprehension:

In principle, the federal government accepted a version of this argument years ago.

I know this to be true because we do it in CO all of the time, and NM has done it. Where I grew up in NM, there can be fires that people don't know about until they are over. The only firefighting that is done on the far back country fires is major structure protection... which may be a house or two. And the terrain is so rugged that it is not possible to go on a routine basis and "manage" the forests.

Because you are an armchair quarterback, you think you know much more than you do.

Perpetrating this ridiculous agenda mandates ignoring the devastating effect on public health.

Progressives don’t truly care about that, clearly. It’s part of what I meant when I said they don’t understand the reasons for their beliefs.

So you don’t like those things, therefore you support forest fires?

Not logical.

You brought up that allowing forest fires to run their course has devastating effects on public health.

That is the same argument liberals use against the items I listed. You went there. To their default position when they are losing an argument.

But it is for the children.

The only way to let forest fires burn is to do so with a scornful attitude towards public health.

All of the items listed trump forest fires in the arena of public health concern.

But again, typical of a losing liberal, run to the corner and cry wolf about it being for the children.

I don’t know why you keep mentioning “the children,” and I don’t know why you keep getting so emotional.

Smoke from forest fires causes severe respiratory illness. So we manage the fires, putting them out when possible.

The left can’t stand this because they think health care is their thing. But like all their things, what they truly support is the opposite. Think about it. We can go over them if you like. It’s really quite fascinating. Sad, but fascinating.

The one who runs to the liberal default position of “its for the children (i.e., public health)”, is the emotional one.

Car exhaust causes severe respiratory illness. Every day.

People die in car wrecks. Approximately 100 people, per day, die in car accidents. Every day.

The cold weather causes severe respiratory illness.

The hot weather causes severe respiratory illness.

Iversion causes severe respiratory illness.

People die from gunshot wounds.

Progressivism produces the opposite of what it claims to advocate.

For example, the progressive position on:

1. civil rights causes slavery (see public housing projects)

2. feminism causes despair for women (see the effects of promiscuity and divorce)

3. environmentalism causes environmental destruction (see progressive enablement of massive third world polluters)

4. economics causes poverty (see the effects of socialism)

5. peace causes war (see leftist enablement of dictators and terrorists)

6. love causes hate (see the effects of progressivism on tolerating other beliefs)

7. healthcare causes increased cost and denial of access (see Obamacare)

You are so confused. You are the one defending from a position of liberalism.

Maybe it is the forest fires depriving your brain of oxygen.

and number 8—their position on democracy causes voter fraud.

That’s the one that really stands out. They’re so proud of the name of their party because they claim to represent democracy.

Now look at them. Filling out fraudulent blank ballots. Throwing away the votes of military and other conservatives.

Eventually, the bright ones among them get wise to it and leave the party. See #walkaway.

I’m talking about the fact that leftist practice always produces the opposite of what it claims.

And that this democrat voter fraud going on since last week is a perfect example.

“Democratic” party. Now look at them.

So people wise up, and you have the #walkaway movement. Look it up.
