And, post-nationalism doesn’t work too well in a world full of aggressive nationalist powers like China, Iran, and NK.

Yep! There's that.

It's amazing to me how self-identified 'progressives' think they are morally and intellectually superior, but they are actually selfish and clueless.

It is selfish to put the welfare and safety of your citizens at risk while you ignore pragmatic issues (like Islamic terrorism and hegemony, attempts by communist China to neuter the West's economies, non-assimilation of masses of people - and consequent destabilizing rapid demographic shifts, the bankrupting of Western societies by creeping socialism, etc.).

It's clueless to think that learning leftist ideology at a university makes you a 'free thinker' and an erudite educated person - particularly while ignoring the 100s of millions who have suffered or died as a consequence of Communism/socialism.

I had a nice fight with my Jewish liberal friends this weekend. They were complaining (as usual) about Trump’s nationalistic posture on the global stage. They said being nationalist only causes more war, more economic conflict and more racism.

My question to the people I have known for 40 years and spent time in Israel with was, “As I recall, we were all Zionists in the 70’s. We needed to be separated from our enemies, we needed our own resources to survive and we needed to be Israeli’s first. We were influential and were instrumental in building Israeli agriculture to what it is today. What is different than what Trump has done for America?”

Answer: “America is different.”

Not one additional response, but it was clear I was in the minority. Out of 60 people who I shared a year of my life with, turns out I am the only conservative in the bunch. And really, I am the only liberal amongst them. They are all Socialists.

I had a Jewish grandfather, and I personally think that Jewish embracing of socialism and Marx is one of the biggest pieces of evidence against the concept of Jewish intellectual preeminence. Why there is any Jewish pride about Marx is just unfathomable. If I could go back in time, he is one of the first people I would beat the stuffing out of. A selfish lazy jerk, living off of others, not working, and resentful of his father - who was industrious.

You can’t intellectualize yourself beyond the realities of the world. You have to deal with those realities - head on. What you and your friends did to help build the agriculture of Israel was very important, and I applaud you. I’ve always admired Jewish commitment to social justice, but that concept has become so mutated such that I don’t think the majority of liberal American Jews have a real clue anymore what social justice really is. Without individual self-determinism and freedom, there is no social justice.

Funny you mention that. I told one of my friends it is tough being a SJW when you live in Trump Tower.

I really laughed out loud when I saw the video of both of them together.

Trump looks like the Hulk as they walked together and Macron was like a super happy petite girl who got the attention of the star athlete after the game. He was touching and trying to hug on him, while Trump was acting very monolithic and mostly ignoring the poor little girly-man who clearly was very impressed with his size and the sense of power he projected.

Marcon actions to Trump was like a Meerkat running up and acting affectionate to a majestic large mature male alpha lion, who could have devoured it in 1 bite..

Trump is easily much larger, heavier and definitely stronger than Macron! The physical contrast is very dramatic to say the least. It's the best I've seen in possibly our lifetime: The Lion vs the Mouse.

And then the mouse starts yapping about the evils of American Patriotism...

Your Jewish grandfather obviously had NO connection to Torah, the lifeblood of the Jewish soul. The first evidence of this is that he married a non-Jew. Jews are hard-wired to "do good"--help the widow and orphan, fight for the oppressed (Moses stood up for an abused slave, if you recall), be kind to animals, etc. When they are deprived of a Torah education and/or forbidden to practice Judaism by persecuting governments, they lack the proper (Torah-defined) channels to express these drives. So, they latch on to causes that make them feel they're doing good. Like socialism. Jews who can take out their drive to "do good" according to Torah precepts never give Marx et al a second glance. Only those who try to satisfy their urge to do good via socialism/communism do so. It's a real shame that many soaring intellects, who would surely have been towering figures of learning in the Torah world, instead use their gifts to insist on "equality", "diversity", "womens rights" and other socialist drivel.
