At her very young age, her personality and view of the world are not yet formed completely.

She could end up a conservative with a few more years and more maturity.

Mind you, I wouldn’t count on it, but it has happened in the past.

A city Councilman came to my door to ask for my vote. I asked him about a FIFTEEEN year tax abatement they had just offered a large company to help them stay afloat. (This was during the recession (depression) in Michigan)

He said they needed it to stay in business and keep 500 people employed. I told him I didn’t disagree with the offer, but that fifteen years was sort of insane. Economic cycles come and go. In five years, they’ll either be gone or thriving. I asked why they didn’t give a five year abatement with an option for two more after a thorough financial review.

He had no answer for me. He got no vote from me.

If Republicans would get smart and realize that people absolutely HATE corporate welfare they might find that they could start peeling votes away from some interesting places.

There is a big difference between giving money to attract a business and giving a tax break to entice a business to locate in a tax jurisdiction.

Givinging a tax break that will create jobs, individual and business income and, therefore, greater net tax revenue can be an all-around positive.

It is actually MORE EVIL to tax businesses than individuals because the business can just pass the tax to the consumer (citizen blames the business, not the government).

Taxes should only be applied to those things you want reduced. Working should be left alone.

I must say that I’m not unhappy that Indianapolis didn’t win this lottery as it would have put a strain on our infrastructure.

I also agree with the guest in the show that one of the real reasons that Amazon chose Virginia was so they would be in a position to act as full time lobbyists in order for Bezos to get even richer.

She needs to be mugged a bit more by reality, probably. But given her demographics, I'd wager the powers that be make her comfortable enough never to have to make that connection, and in 10 years or so, she'll be a player for the Left on the national stage.

Pittsburgh drove really strong to the hoop to get Amazon to come here.

City and County Government have REFUSED to tell the public what exactly was offered. There are lawsuits going on over this now.

Frankly I’m glad they aren’t coming here. There are already enough techies with San Francisco Values moving to town.

There is a difference between a tax BREAK and using tax dollars to GIVE to a company. The former is fine and doesn’t cost taxpayers a dime, it creates more revenue by creating more taxpayers via jobs. The latter is not what was offered to Amazon, unless something happened that hasn’t been publicized.

Both Marxist Barbie and Tucker are wrong.

Corporate welfare is welfare. Be it tax breaks or tax money being spent on infrastructure to entice a corporation to stay or relocate. The highest and best example of using other peoples money to create wealth.

That said, corporate welfare is how the economic development game is played. All hail Amazon and Jeff Bezos for being masters of the game.

I live about 90 minutes north of DC. Northern Virginia is a stupid place to inject 30,000 more people.

Thankfully most of these drones are probably single so they are not bringing families too.

Traffic is already horrendous.

Different tax levels violates Equal Protection, and I think the Supreme Court would so decide.

Amazon has lots of young hipsters, who will love the NYC social life, but would quit if they had to live in Buffalo.

The city put their thumb on the scale and said your business is vastly more important than the rest of the businesses here. That is wrong. All companies should have low taxes. One industry or business shouldn’t be favored over another.

....Why not Buffalo, or Rochester that needs jobs? That would have been a big plus to NY......

They want all of the young, H-1B visa asians...and, those people don’t want to live in Rochester or Buffalo.

In other words...this “deal” is NOT about creating jobs, for deserving Americans.

I read an article, about the overnight seller’s real estate market, that said tours for these new employees (seeking apartments) were being conducted in Mandarin.
