the business can just pass the tax to the consumer
Pure illogical lunacy.

If a business can simply raise prices for whatever reason, what's stopping them from raising their prices any other time?

Guess what happens to your income tax when you increase your income?

She’s right-on here but clearly didn’t get the memo! Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez seems to not understand is her party has long ago abandoned the working class and is now OWNED by billionaire mega-capitalist corporate oligarchs like Amazon, Big Media, Hollywood, Facebook and Google… who actively censor any opposing views. I’m sure Speaker Pelosi will “correct” her thinking come January. To see modern “progressives” supporting the war-loving corporate state, which they once vehemently opposed is indeed #RustyIrony.

Taxes are just the "cost of doing business" and must be passed along if the business is to survive, which is not guaranteed.

If a business cannot provide a reasonable rate of return, the capital will move to a more profitable use.

You don't really believe that the wealthy simply eat the loss do you?

As of jan 2018, Amazon had narrowed it down to 20 cities. Cities were dying to get Amazon to move.

All companies should prove
themselves worthy of staying
in business. They must establish
and maintain the profitable support
of the market. If it aint profitable
for private investors, throwing tax
dollars at it won't make it profitable
for the tax payer.
Competitive tax rates, proximity
to materials/services and a good
market should be the only incentive
for relocation.

If you believe that a government taking less money from a corporation or individual is some sort of welfare, you must believe (as AOC does) that all money belongs first to the government, and they should decide how much to let private sector entities accumulate.

Here's a short primer for those who are confused:

A dollar in the private sector is more useful and productive than a dollar in the government's hands.

The richest man in the world just got $2 billion in taxpayer subsidies? How does that work?” he added.

Lowering taxes leads to more saving, which leads to more investment, which leads to more productive expenditure, which leads to both more demand for capital goods, and more demand for labor. More demand for capital goods leads more production and supply of capital goods, which leads to higher total productive ability, which leads to more economic progress, which leads to more prosperity for the economy as a whole. Higher productive ability also leads to more production and more supply, which helps keep average prices levels lower, which helps increase average real wage rates.

More demand for labor leads to increased employment and higher average money wage rates, which helps increase average real wage rates.

Regarding Ocasio-Cortez, “we” pretty much know that she is clueless about the fed’s constitutionally limited powers. And Mr. Carlson may only be dimly aware of those powers, or has possibly been told not to go there.

Although the feds have the express constitutional power to guarantee each state a republican form of government (4.4) which taxpayer residents of Queens may not be getting, patriots must keep on eye on Ocasio-Cortez to make sure that her remedy for this issue does not unconstitutionally expand the already unconstitutional big federal government’s powers.

Corrections, insights welcome.

Liberals and Conservatives can agree as to what the problems are.

The differences come in the solutions they propose.

What made the Amazon story such a joke is that they probably would have made the same decision about NYC and Virginia even if those states didn’t offer a penny in corporate welfare.

Indeed. From what I understand, the CEO apparently has a house within a brief driving distance of each of the places they chose. What an amazing coincidence!

As I recall from reading about this earlier, she heard from her constituents and that is the actual source of the objection. At least she is listening.

There are, however, two issues.

Government taking less money from corporations - Good.

Government taking more money from disfavored or unfavored corporations to make up for it - bad.

Both arguments apply, but are getting mixed together.

“Givinging a tax break that will create jobs, individual and business income and, therefore, greater net tax revenue can be an all-around positive.”

Exceptthat these tax breaks rarely pay for themselves in the form of net positive tax revenue. It’s a conclusion that has been reached by researchers with preconceived biases from both the left and the right of the political spectrum.

It is actually MORE EVIL to tax businesses than individuals because the business can just pass the tax to the consumer (citizen blames the business, not the government).

Possible counter-arguments:

1. No, the business might not be able to pass that extra cost on to its customers - unless the company has a monopolistic position. Rather, the company will simply have to reduce the dividends it pays to its stockholders.

2. No, it is actually MORE EVIL to tax individual persons than businesses, because individual persons can just pass the tax on to the people to whom that person provides services and/or labor (i.e., to that person's employer - if he's an employee - or to that person's customers - if he's a service-provider).

3. No, not really more evil - rather, JUST as evil. An individual is really just a company of one. No distinction should be made. All should be equal before the law.

Regards,

Since the outcomes often differ between "passing on the costs", a level of evil may be imputed.

It seems the price of labor, for many, is more difficult pass on.

They’ll bail once the tax breaks end just like most of the other businesses taking advantage of the program all these years. Its basically corporate welfare.

Just like football teams who don’t get the updated/remodeled stadium(s).

I agree all businesses should have low taxes. But the reality of the situation at hand is far different than what the idiot liberals are complaining about. Adding to the irony is that Amazon is owned by another idiot liberal.
