Willard is a squish. Expect him to go wobbly and be pleasantly surprised when he doesn’t.

Impeach President Trump for what? They have absolutely no reason to.

They don't need one. But they will make one up and it will stick, Trump will be impeached by the House. After the Senate by fraud vote will also impeach him and Trump will be gone. So will America.

Clinton bombed another country to distract from his adultery. Impeachment was the right thing to do. Conviction should’ve followed. However, Gore would’ve probably had the incumbent advantage and been president when 9/11 happened. Just imagine the chances of a Republican winning the presidency after Gore and the Clintons had had those years to infest the nation with even more of their operatives in positions of power.

Reason? They don’t like him. The dems will impeach Trump to get it into the history books.

Even today their "regret" is based only on the political fallout of the impeachment. That's why I've always regarded Newt Gingrich as nothing more than a political opportunist and useless hack.

I remember the months leading up to Clinton's impeachment very well. On my local talk radio shows they treated the matter as something of a joke -- because they never believed it would happen.

The turning point came when the House managers brought out a bunch of people who had previously been prosecuted for the same crimes that Clinton had committed (perjury, obstruction of justice, suborning perjury, etc.) to testify before their committee. Every one of those people was a respectable U.S. citizen who had gotten involved in a situation that they found embarrassing as all hell, and their crimes were almost entirely related to avoiding public exposure rather than self-enrichment.

Once that happened, the tone of the talk radio hosts changed dramatically. It became much more somber and serious. One of them in particular -- a pretty liberal guy, as I remember -- made this statement that I'll never forget (I'm paraphrasing): "Two weeks ago I thought this whole thing was a political charade foisted on this country by these Republicans, and they'd never impeach this President. After watching all those people testify, I now believe they have no choice but to impeach him."

Bill Clinton's legacy was that he made it politically and culturally acceptable for Donald Trump to be elected President of the United States. Trump never would have been elected if Clinton hadn't reduced the stature of the office so badly.

As I tell people all the time when they ask me how the hell I could have voted for someone with Trump's character and background: "What character and background? You must be kidding me. After what this country went through with Bill Clinton, I now hold the guys who collect my garbage to a higher standard than the President."

Yes, that may be enough for the House that will be seated in January, and they define what "enough" is.

it seems difficult to envision a Democratic impeachment attempt succeeding

For two reasons, there is nothing impeachable and second, their House margins are too thin. A lot of candidates won on razor thin margins, especially new candidates. Pursuing impeachment would make them certain one termers.

Because the Republicans impeached billy jeff. Democrats are like Muslims - they never forget a slight and want to respond in kind.

The US House can define “High Crimes and Misdemeanors” any way they damn well please.

As long as they can get 50% +1 votes.

Which they will not be able to do. And you can take that to the bank.

While Dims are corrupt and anti-American to their very core, they are not politically stupid. They learned from the Clinton impeachment that it is sheer folly to impeach into CERTAIN Senate defeat.

There will not be an impeachment vote on the floor of the House. Guaranteed. They do not and will not have the votes.

The so-called Trump impeachment process is probably going to last for the next two years because, like Mueller, it’s probably a 2020 Democratic campaign crutch.

“ON WHAT CHARGE?”

Farting in church is impeachable if the House says it is.

They will still try to do it. They have to, the crazies want them to. They want to do it ASAP so by the time 2020 rolls around their individual votes will be mostly forgotten.

It wouldn’t even matter if this wasn’t Trump, they have to create a visual equivalency between Slick impeachment and a GOP president. Impeaching a GOP’er on nothing will do it, reasons don’t matter. In their minds somehow it will absolve what happened to Slick.
