The salaries are SICKENINGLY obscene, even in NY for govt workers

Maybe not quite as off the charts but give us time.

I dont get the moochers.

I was on SSDI for FIVE years after my head injury.

What is FUN about making one FOURTH of what you used to?!?!

Who wants to just survive?!?!

I am working again and thankful for the safety net.

But it’s supposed to be a net, not a mansion!!

I like how you define “major city” as being only 10 million and up.

...or Palo Alto, or any of a thousand other places are living in “Third World” conditions needs to have their head examined.

It's headed there. Reyes said she still sees extended families pool their resources to buy a home around Little Michoacán, even if it means renting out the living room to help pay the mortgage. https://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/Redwood-City-s-Little-Michoac-n-2668905.php

Right now the writers think that is cute and lower middle class. But it's headed in the wrong direction, into a lower class barrio where nobody speaks English, there are cars everywhere from the overcrowded houses, and the police start to not bother answering calls unless they are for serious crimes. The late Sam Francis's term for California is anarchotyranny where being law abiding middle class subjects you taxation, gun confiscation, and other harassment by the authorities knowing you won't fight back. Meanwhile on the other side of town there is virtual anarchy.

Author states....”when you combine uber-liberal politicians, with rich elitist Hollywood Celebrities, dotcom CEO billionaires, disengaged millennials and illegal aliens; you in effect create the circumstances where your city or state becomes a 3rd World environment.”......

It can be no other way....but he forgot to mention the utter breakdown of the family unit and pushing God to the sidelines if at all.

Az is gone. Californians moving in. I disagree with many. This is not a political, voter, or legal issue. In every sense of the word California was invaded and conquered. California was the crown jewel in the communist (progressive) movement to destroy America. Why anyone would argue to give up that fine state and its people to the invaders is beyond me. And the government of the United States is complicit in this invasion. The first step to take correcting this problem is to declare the perps in rebellion. We know who they are and we know what they are doing. Our leaders are either too dumb to recognize it or are to afraid to admit to the magnitude of the problem we face. Hell I would wager we couldn't get 10% of the FReepers to recognize it. Frogs in a pot.

I’m sure there are very rich people living in gated communities in Guatemala, El Salvador and Brazil too, but that doesn’t make their countries any less “third world” than California.

I can verify it, while I watch Orange County go the way of Los Angeles.

Better add OR and USSR-WA (my home and current state) to that list.

“California is depending on Uncle Sugar bailing them out.

You are 100% Correct.

With 55 Electoral votes the DNC knows it can forever make the rest of the nation pay for their destruction.

Other states mock, but in the end will pay for all the mistakes Calif makes,

Sad.

"That said, when I visited Santa Barbara about a year ago I was shocked while walking down State Street. The homeless where ALL OVER the place. It was nothing like it use to be."

That's awful. I have not been to SB lately but San Clemente before the fire had not been overwhelmed, just your ordinary one-dude-in-a-cardboard-box.

Worked in Mission Viejo and lived in Laguna Hills for 21 years. Haven’t been back since we left in ‘06. We have 5 grand kids and one great grandbaby spread around Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay. Been back to SB several times since we left.

Ok, so out of defeat we “...let this Titanic sink”.

How does that materialize itself? State goes bankrupt? Requires federal funding? Gets cut off from the federal government bailing it out eventually, or do we then watch every other state adopt liberal socialist programs knowing they will get federal funding? Followed by massive deficits, debased currency printing massive amounts of money to pay for it all, devaluation, hyperinflation, social unrest, economic crisis worse than the Great Depression...

.....and before you know it there will be statues in the new People’s Republic of the heros of the Revolution, comrades Cloward and Piven.

The “Titanic” you mention may only be the few first watertight compartments flooding that will take down the whole country.
