Great article! Best I have seen on this aspect...thanks for posting it.
I don’t feel the vitriol some here feel towards him, can’t do anything about that. This said it perfectly for me.

Just to be clear about the whole “Read my lips... Bush raised taxes thing: Congress raised taxes via the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1990 (Leon Panetta (DCA). Bush just failed to veto it like Reagan probably would have.

If and when Donald Trump ever needs a service animal, it won’t be a dog. It will be a honey badger.

I heard a report this morning that in the morning, he was doing fine, just another normal day, but by the afternoon, hed taken a direct downhill turn and that just a short few hours later, was gone, and his son didnt have time to get there. If you have a family member who is very old, and frail, do you suspend your life to go spend every day with them until the end? My grandmother was very frail. She was ill for a long time. She was sick for nearly 3 years before she passed. Do you suspend everything for 3 years? Or do you abide by their wishes that you live? Depends on what you mean by "suspend everything".
In my wife's case, she entered the hospital Feb 6 for tests ordered by her cardiologist. They transferred her to a cardiac hospital the following weekend after revealing she needed a new heart valve. She had open-heart surgery on the 14th (yea, Valentine's Day), but never came out of it.
I guess you could say I "suspended everything" in that I went to the hospital every day after work and was there all day on weekends.
She was very slowly making progress, and the evening of the 26th the ICU nurse and I were pleased with how everything was going (even though she hadn't regained consciousness). We hoped that soon, she could come off the respirator and all the other devices attached to her (dialysis, etc.).
I went home about 11:00pm that night. I got a call at 4:00am from the attending PA; she'd just been sent into emergency surgery. She died that morning.
Did I "suspend everything"? I guess. I was going to work, but every evening, coming home from work, was spent at my wife's bedside.
Had she lived, recovery would have been a very long haul. Would I have "suspended everything" to be with her during recovery? You betcha.

"he prompted the rise of populist Ross Perot, thereby allowing the sordid Clintons into the White House."
The one thing I cannot forgive Perot for was his run for the Presidency. Simply because I don't believe he was ever serious. As a fellow Texan, he moved in Bush's world and they didn't like each other. I think he withdrew for a short time in 1992 because he was going to win!! At the time he withdrew he was leading both Bush and Clinton.
When he came back in, he announced his VP candidate as James Stockdale. I think he did that because of who Bush's VP was (Quayle). During the VP debate, it was clear that Admiral Stockdale (a true American hero and Medal of Honor recipient) was no longer in his right mind and was faltering. Yet it was the picture Perot wanted to present, two war veterans (Stockdale and Gore) going up against an obvious draft dodger (Quayle got into the Indiana National Guard during Vietnam). Admiral Stockdale went after Quayle hard during the debate.
I admit, I voted for Clinton in 1992. However, don't crucify me with 26 years of history to look back on. He appeared as a moderate Democrat who would implement good federal reforms. At the time, moderate Dems did actually exist, the Juanita Broderick story was not out there (at least I never heard about it) and he appeared to be the lesser of three evils. I held my nose and voted for Dole in 1996 once I found out about the real Bill Clinton.

Oh man. I thought this was gonna be about Antifa or something.
Not particularly sensitive to the Bush family, but my goodness is Kurt EVER spot on like he is today.

“Mr. Schlichter is a bit naïve”
Must disagree as I believe that’s exactly what he said only more eloquently.
This is one of the better articles I have read in some time.
Shades of Victor David Hanson.

8 out of 10 freepers could have written this too.Yup. And we all clearly remember how McCain was the corrupt MSM's go-to beloved "Maverick" Republican because he would often criticize other Republicans. Then he ran for president and they absolutely hated him and ridiculed him. Then he died and the corrupt MSM worshiped McCain like the NORKS worship the dead Kim Jung Il.

GW tried to break out of his dad’s establishment mold, but blood proved thicker than his ideals, and his administration swarmed with the deep state types with ties back to his dad’s generation. He too, wanting to be a nice guy in spite of the vicious attacks the media made on him, never called out the media for what it was - the virtual media arm of the Democrats, period. When you refuse to name your enemies, you refuse to counter them and the damage they do.

"The Democrats played him like a fiddle, convincing him to raise taxes..."
And then used it as the single biggest campaign issue in the next election, ending his presidency.
Democrats are scoundrels of the lowest order, and apparently GHWB didn't see it coming.
