We as a society want to pay health aides $10/hour.

To add insult to injury large hospitals then write off the loses - meaning they often pay ZERO in taxes. Everyone is hurt except the illegals... all the sacrificing and pain is done so poorly educated 'fence jumpers' can live here long enough be become democrats and vote in socialism or thugocracies run by 'elites' ... the same crap that ruined their home countries.
I don’t know how many hospitals pay taxes; here in NJ there is a stink because some hospitals are being forced to pay property taxes for the first time (or make “payments in lieu of taxes”). This is a high-tax state, and this decision will close even more of them.

Lost Angeles is a case on point. Chagas was unknown there in 1970. Now there are multiple clinics for it.
Not to mention that getting a nursing/medical license with nothing but a foreign education is just so easy....
I’m not sure really...One immigrant engineer I knew had a 4 year degree from India but when he went to get licensed (Engineer in Training) they said his degree was worth only 90 credits. He would have had to take 2 or 3 semesters of senior level engineering at an American college.
I lost touch with him so I’m not sure how it turned out.
Need that huge laugh on an otherwise terrible day.
