This is true.

Everything Trump has done, has been setting up the situation between China and America, go forward.

But until now, everything he has done, has actually made our trade deficit with China WORSE.

Not better. Worse.

The one problem in America is the lack of patience by its people.

There will be accelerated buying due to tariffs scheduled to rise from 10% to 25% at the end of the year. People were buying before the price increase. Now that is the end of Feb. So as the deficits increase in January and February you will have more to complain about. But then that ends and the deficits will drop, probably sharply.

Also our own manufacturing has to ramp back up and that can take years.

The good economy has a demand for more supplies. It stands to reason the trade deficit might go up,for a while.

Trump is perfectly fine on this issue. People in America are buying more stuff from China. We can’t help it. We have always bought more stuff. Especially if the economy is good here. Trump promised jobs. We have more jobs than we can fill. There are job openings in every state, at every skill level. And if Americans want to use their pay to buy Chinese stuff, thats ok. At least they have lots of money to do that. And China does not have that much money in the hands of the workers. Thats their problem. And if they fix it, we still can’t find anyone to fill the jobs that Trump has already made.

This is definitely something to worry about.

In the past, half or more of our deficit was related to oil imports.

But our oil situation has completely changed.

In 2018, there have been two months when our energy exports almost equaled our energy imports.

That is happening because we are exporting more and more bio-fuels like ethanol, more natural gas, and more natural gas liquids like propane, plus, America has the most efficient refineries in the world.

Domestically, we are also pumping about 3 million barrels per day more oil from tight shale formations, which means we are importing much less oil.

The fact that our total trade deficit is in record territory at the same time our energy trade deficit has dramatically improved is very disturbing.

You don’t seem to understand economics. The trade deficits is caused by our country BUYING more goods from China then we Sell to them.

We have the best economy in 20 yrs due to Trump’s policies and since our economy is 2/3 driven by consumer spending the result is we are SPENDING MORE and what we are buying is made in China.

Deficits (trade) always increase when our economy is strong and it it is no different this time. This was not the case when we made things in this country and consumers bought stuff WE made.

Yeah - and when one who has been sitting on one's arse for decades decides to start an exercise program to become healthy, the biggest amount of pain is at the beginning of the process.....so many seem to want to have a banana split with all the garnishes now even when it means they might not be able to afford a single scoop of plain ice cream down the road......

One of the reasons so many who can effect changes opt not to is because they know that making things better will result in short term inconveniences and cost them votes...so they opt to help the cancer spread instead of excising it out...and they have "Conservative" help because so many who claim to be for what's right decide maybe they only want the parts that will have a net sum zero effect on them for the foreseeable future.

President Trump can’t do this on his own. We have to buy the stuff made here when possible.
