I predict that places like New Zealand will be optimum places to live when climate change hits.
Of course I’m calling for a severe global cooling (and quite possibly mile thick ice over Chicago). South America would be good too. Warm and wet places. Warm and dry not so much - as the earth will get REALLY dry with all of the water held in the glacial ice.
Hmm. I can already see the divisions and battles going on. The growers near the equator. The “fringers” fighting the elements to break off icebergs and tow them south in return for food.

Warming actually makes more snow. Something about warmer oceans evaporate more and the more water in the atmosphere precipitates more and makes the ice caps melt. It makes perfect sense.

Published in the year 2000, I thought maybe the story was just too old, and the Independent simply removed the story to save archive space, or maybe this had to do with some site redesign and the URL simply got broken. Yet when I remove the quote marks to search for the phrase in general, and not exactly, other stories back as far as 1994 about global warming and snow appear...
