The judge is wrong. The school district and the city likely made explicit, or implicit, promises to protect the children in the schools.

If the schools are “gun free zones”, they are openly admitting to being targets.

What “law” has been settled?

Haven't you read through this thread?

The courts have repeatedly ruled right up through the supreme court that the police have no duty to act in any but the most general terms. They can stand by and watch you be murdered, and cannot be held liable. That is settled law. I think someone upthread has even posted a link to a specific supreme court ruling on the subject.

“The courts have repeatedly ruled right up through the supreme court that the police have no duty to act in any but the most general terms.”

We need to stop this crap that black robe fascists can write law or nullify law. These traitors in black robes can do neither.

Courts can rule but courts cannot compel. Everytime we embrace their illegal rulings we give them power they don’t have, constitutionally.

A court “ruling” is not a law. Period.

If you agree that a ruling by a judge is a “law,” then we have nothing more to discuss.

A judge cannot write law. Only a legislature can write law.

Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership published a book about this years ago.

The title is "Dial 911 and Die".

It is a scholarly work that details the state of the law in the 50 states, when it was published.

Looks like JPFO has a few copies left for $14.95. At Amazon, used copies are going for $31!

Full disclosure. I write for JPFO.

I disagree with many posters on this thread who claim this is long-settled law. School is mandatory and students have been arrested for truancy. That fact is not consistent with a decision that claims stidents “are not in custody”. Either you have to be in school (which brings back a constitutional duty to protect) or you don’t (which vacates all truancy charges).

There is that.

You can also argue that the particular officer had a special duty to the school, as he was assigned to that school.

There will probably be an appeal.

This issue has been ruled on a number of times. Each time it has been that the police have no obligation to protect Citizens.

The purpose of the police is to keep order and protect the Government[property and individuals.

Look up some of the Supreme Court Decisions.

They serve the Government and they protect the Government.

Did you think that this applied to you?

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. They tell us, no, we don’t need guns to protect ourselves, they’ll take care of us, but by the way, they’re under no legal obligation to do so.
