If you don’t know how you’re going to get out, you shouldn’t be there.

If you don't know how your going to WIN, you should't be there. If you don't know what WIN means, you shouldn't have gone in the first place.

"Exit Strategy" is for losers.

That is why Trump was elected. He thinks outside of the box. Those wanting to work for him ought to know that by now before going in.

So we don’t need to be in Syria.

I asked my friend in California how the leftists are responding to the troop pullout, since one presumes it’s something they would be heavily in favor of.

He says they’re just ignoring it because every day for them is a living nightmare as long as Trump is President - so NOTHING he does is going to make them happy.

It’s been 15 months I can remember the BBC, CNN or any network chat over some ISIS confrontation or war-action. Between Turkey, the US, the Kurds, the Syrians and Russians....they wiped out a ton of ISIS-thugs. Personally, if someone needs police-action-thugs around then it’s not our job. They can go and ask the French or Germans play peace-keeper. If you call us with Nazi-thugs running across France and killing countless Jews...then we’ll arrive onshore at Normandy and do what has to be done to put the enemy six-feet under. We should stick to our core business concept.

A quick victory is always preferable, of course, but not always possible. Nobody wins ALL THE TIME forever.

If after you do win you should still exit. If you don’t win staying indefinitely is pointless and costly.

Either way you have to leave at some point no matter what you want to call it.

Thanks. That settles my main misgiving.

Since Erdogan *is* ISIS and Al Nusra, Trump is disentangling us from a nasty situation with an equally nasty former ally.

My not so hidden point is that we went in to much of this recent jihadistan intervention without a clear statement from our elected public servants (Bush, 0bama) of what we were trying to accomplish or what “victory” would look like. The only clear objective was overthrowing Saddam, which was easily accomplished. After that? Very unclear. Same with Afghanistan. Killing bin Laden? Got that. But why the hell are we still there?

As it turns out, one could even say that POTUS acted on the indirect advice of his national security adviser, John Bolton, simply because he was unable to answer one question regarding continued U.S. military presence in the war-torn shell of a country: "Why?"

This is exactly how I would see a conversation proceeding between a blunt, direct billionaire from New York City and some jackass who spent most of his adult life in Ivy League schools and Beltway think tanks.

It's hard to believe this website is filled with John Bolton apologists.

We are spending $20 billion a year on Syria and Iraq and $50 billion in Afghanistan.

The US is spending $20 Billion taxpayer dollars on Syrian operations and much of Congress supported by most of K Street Washington violently opposes spending $5 Billion on partially erecting a border wall to protect the US from invasion by the illegals. That tells one everything that is needed to understand how the US government , the political class and the so called elites have become the enemies of the American people.

I got saved in 1981 because, after witnessing to me about Jesus and (in part, after explaining Jesus died so I would be a more whole and healed man, and asking me if I had ever asked Jesus to help me, and my answer was "no") my friend asked, "Why not?"

Indeed ... why don't you ask Jesus to save you ..... right now.

Merry Christmas

"But as is usually the case involving this president, the first impression [emphasis added] we were given by the “mainstream” media regarding his decision was incomplete and not based on a complete understanding of the action."

Reminds me of Proverbs 18:17, the first to present his case seems right until questioned.

That’s right. If there is one thing our intel people have been good at it is funneling arms and financial support to insurgents. A skill honed in the Cold War. Hopefully the mediocrities in charge today still have some insitutional memory about how to do it.

The blood and pain of our sons and daughters mean nothing to the Swamp and neo-cons. But, our sons and daughters mean the world to us. They mean quite a lot to POTUS, too.

“I would like to know we aren’t abandoning the Kurds there, but help can be delivered to them below the table. And if we were going to overthrow anyone, how about Erdogan?”

The Kurds hey? The Kurds have a long history of attacking and killing Assyrian Christian communities. Ok things have changed these last many years and the Kurds have even acknowledged their poor history against Assyrian Christians. But the fact of the matter in Syria the Christians are largely behind Assad’s regime which is fine. He has actually protected many of these minority groups against various Jihads whether from Isis, Kurds or others. But make no mistake about it the Christians and Kurds do not necessarily agree on Assad which has resulted in skirmishes with the YPG. This has also to do with a desire for Christian communities to have independence from a monopoly of YPG power over their communities.

So while the Kurds and Christians have been fighting side by side against ISIS, that issue is largely over given the President’s position on withdrawal and not seeking a regime change. Therefore the question becomes who fills the power vacuums - and that is where the Christians get the short end of the stick. But to keep US troops in Syria based on these regional conflicts is nonsense except to the extent of providing covert help to Christian commmunities to stop from being wiped out by whatever version of Islam is exercising presumed authority.
