Apparently, my children haven’t gotten this memo!

They’re averaging a baby each year.

Now the family tree is an upside down pyramid. four grandparents, two kids, one grandchild.

I had to laugh at that one because at least in my case, it's how things turned out. My two adult children (now nearly their 30s) have yet to have babies of their own so our recent Christmas gatherings have been mostly a geriatric affair. Grandparents snoring on the couches after dinner, nothing under the tree but gift cards and alcoholic beverages - nobody in the family young enough to give toys to.

It wasn't always this way. When I grew up, three of my four grandparents were already dead. Most of my uncles and aunts had multiple children, as many as seven. So my childhood Christmases were bedlam - children running around everywhere. I had so many cousins I could never name all of them off the top of my head. I had to get a piece of paper and put some thought into it as I made out my list!

So I do kind of fear that this is happening all around. Not good for America if we are only averaging one or two kids and having to bring in immigrants to make up the difference.

So if there is a baby boom starting to happen as another poster here pointed out, I would encourage that and hope it is not too little, too late.

In closing, I should mention that the big childhood scare inflicted by liberals growing up was overpopulation. All during the 1970s, there was best seller after best seller warning us of upcoming famines brought about by overpopulating the earth. In the same hysterical tones we hear about "global warming" today, we were warned that we would soon run out of food to feed everybody, run out of gasoline and just about every other natural resource.

I think most people of my generation were literally scared into having just the proverbial 1.2 kids so that we would not contribute to overpopulating the planet. Look where that kind of hysterical thinking has gotten us? I hope today's generation does not fall for the "global warming" baloney as we did for the overpopulation scam.

Actually, Walmart is a pretty solid microcosm for my area.

And since Trump's election (actually about 9 months after his election), there has been an explosion of new borns. I know because I ask about babies' ages when I can.

As an investor, I have long used Walmart traffic as a leading indicator of business and, as an indicator it is seldom wrong.

As an aside, I have recently learned that numerous hedge funds buy satellite imagery of things like Walmart parking lots and shipping and receiving lots of various manufacturers. They have developed software for counting cars and trucks as a way of getting leading edge sales of certain sectors before such can be tallied and released by the usual sources.

My neighbors across the street have a brand new baby and two other kids. They had a big gathering yesterday and their yard was filled to the brim with rugrats.

It was great to hear all the screams and laughter coming from that yard.

So why is marriage being delayed?

Radical militant feminism. Our "culture" has become so toxic and insane that increasing numbers of men - and women - are choosing not to participate.

I share the love of that craziness (in measured doses). Our house was total kid-chaos for Christmas!

I had two kids, adopted another, and wish I could have had more.

Grandkids are filling that desire.

... but wish we could’ve had 5.

Ah, but those new arrivals are! Just go to Minneapolis or Hamtrank. I hear that the once-great state of Maine is looking more and more like mogadishu. The fact that they have been allowed to have 4 or more “wives” really is helping them repopulate the country. Oh, I know it’s officially illegal, but is there any place in the country that prosecutes polygamy?

Children are a gift from the Lord. Psalm 127:3.

Observing how wretchedly our society treats children with abortion, abuse, and neglect it is no wonder the Lord gifts us with fewer children. Modern adults who refuse to grow up are not parent material.

Sorry, I’m not interested in opening my life and my home to a human female creature, and that would include making a family.

Not needed, don’t want, stay out, go play control games with some other sucker.

More common are stories like this:

Retired ex-coworker, over 65, his stepdaughter rejected her parents’ advice and married young, cranked out 3 babies and then got divorced. Spoiled and entitled she dumps her kids on the grandparents whenever she has a date or something better to do, and throws a snit whenever they are not available or willing. Usually they are, over guilt about what will happen to their grandchildren if raised by this thirtysomething adolescent.

Distant cousin of mine, never married, pushing 40, never stably employed, gets herself knocked-up in a one night stand by some naer-do-well who ends up in prison halfway across the country. She signs up for all of the welfare goodies, but in return the state makes her name the father, who now has visitation rights in exchange for his $35/month child support payments coming out of his license plate earnings. Again dumps the kid on her widowed father whenever she wants to go out and have fun, and he obliges over concern for the child. He is in his 70’s, in poor health, and only prays he will live long enough for his grandchild to make it to 18.

Spoiled, entitled, selfish young women are a big big big big BIG part of the problem in my experience.

I’m glad I won’t be around to see what America has become in 100 years.

This has been my personal crusade for years. Productive, educated, conservative people have one or two kids, if any. Meanwhile nobody is having kids but welfare mamas and muslims, who are having them in droves.

We had four and people looked at us like we were crazy. They have all bought into the overpopulation myth. My response is: Yes, we just have too many well-behaved, respectful, responsible children in this world, don’t we?” That always shuts them up.

You have summarized the plot of the movie Idiocracy.
See it if you have not done so already.

“In short, America’s fertility rate is in a free fall.”

So what? It’s being more than made up for by the flotsam and jetsam of the third and fourth world that the democrats and judges are bringing into the country.

The Powers That Be feel they have already solved this problem, but “Trump’s Damned Wall” threatens to undo their solution. :)

I have a few cousins that ended up like you described but they are the exception. My family was definitely old-fashioned in that women were expected to be housewives and mothers - nothing more. My parents raised my sister that way as well and had her assisting my mother with the cooking and housework as soon as she was able to. My brother and I were pushed (or rather "nudged") out of the house after high school so we both joined the military. But my sister stayed home until she was married, my father would have it no other way.

Say about that as you want but my parents (both alive) have been married nearly 60 years now and my siblings and I are still on our original marriages (with no plans to change that). I'm coming up on my 35th year of marriage and my brother and sister not too far behind.

My siblings and I would be horrified to put any kind of burden on our parents. I never took a dime from them from the time I left home for the Marines. I can't even remember a time my parents babysitted our kids, my wife and I just didn't go out together when our children were little.

I think a lot of what you state derives from the fact that parents raise their kids to have no shame. My father especially made me feel very ashamed to come to him for any kind of money when I was a teenager. His only stated responsibility was to keep a roof over our heads, clothes on our backs and food on the table. So I got a paper route at 14 and started bagging groceries at the local supermarket soon as I was able to legally work so I would have pocket money for the other things. Some might say my father was overly strict but he drilled into us the importance of being self-reliant and not a burden to others. Which was the best gift he could ever have given us.

Very true, and that is what they are being brought here to do.

Long term population replacement driven by a government that hates America and its people.
