I work for the DoD but it doesn’t affect me; since, according to one my co-workers a deal was reached and signed by Trump back in September.
GOV’T SHUT DOWN, 6 WORK DAYS, 8 DAYS OFF WORK = 14 DAYS, 2 HOLIDAYS IN 2 WEEKS THAT FALL ON A WEEKEND WHICH ARE OFF DAYS FOR MANY WORKERS. NOT MUCH OF SHUT DOWN! + HANGOVER WEDNESDAYS.

I warn vacation time and sick leave; like everyone else.
The Federal Govt does not provide long term disability. So if Inhave a heart attack or a severe accident; I save my vacation to ensure a I can recover before I have zero income.
I can only carry 240 hours over, year to year. For the past 7 years I have taken about a week LESS vacation than i am entitled to. If I carry over more than 240 hours, it is lost. Lost as in I do not get a dime for that time. Use or Lose.
During a Govt shut down; you MAY NOT use accumulated vacation time.
