I’d rather have a blase, ordinary Muslim who just goes to his mosque and has normal family values than a militant atheist San Francisco genderqueer feminist.

Who nominated him for the position? As you said, it’s a bit late to remove him for his religion. If they want him out, they better find some other reason. It’s stupid to go after him for that.

Islam is a political and cultural system. It cannot also be a religion. If it is assumed to be a religion it is in violation of the separation of Church and State.

Muslims who came here after the Shah of Iran fell from power are pretty conservative (pro America). This guy could be one of those.
Islam is unique for being a faith that mandates a political system that privileges it.
Moderate Muslims believe in the faith. Fundamentalists believe in the political system and seek to enforce it.
Bush is responsible for opening the flood gates to Islam due to his foolish, arrogant attempt to change Muslim countries into civilized places. What a colossal blunder.
Absolutely! Bush is to blame for the influx of Muslims into the US and for the perpetual wars the US is fighting against or for various Muslim sects depending on which groups pretend to be our allies. Trump needs to boot the warmonger neocons like Bolton and get us out of Syria, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Nor more American lives lost fighting for nothing.
