China has a gigantic 800 gorilla problem few people are willing to talk about: the health care costs of all those people suffering from the effects of serious air and water pollution problems.

Not to mention a population that skews to old age.

Then why does Drudge keep headlining record trade deficits with China?

I think that makes sense and it probably should be included in this Forbes article. But in fact the article basically argues that China could and might “win” the trade war.

[Well, there were articles out the other day saying China’s trade surplus with the United States was bigger than ever. So if China is losing the trade war, I guess we losing it more.]

American retailers were getting their orders in before the tariff increase from 10% to 25%, which was originally scheduled to take place January 1. There is also the issue of tariffs applying to all Chinese exports to the US (vs about 1/2 today). So every retailer under the sun is accelerating imports from China in anticipation of the new tariffs scheduled to be in place March 1 (because of the 90-day delay Trump put in place December 1).

The liberal media and diehard conservative free traders are talking up the trade deficits out of a combo of ignorance and/or deceit. This ain’t rocket science. When 25% tariffs kick in, Chinese exports to the US will go down significantly. Chinese costs are already significantly higher than places like Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. Throw in copyright and patent issues, and the average American manufacturer whose principal market is stateside (like Black and Decker, Fuller, etc) has a pretty good case for relocating to China’s neighbors.

All roads lead to China regardless of what their numbers currently are saying or say in the future...........just as all power will rest in Europe as things progress.

Trump meanwhile is fighting to stop the destruction of our country which the Elite Globalists have every intention of making this into a country full of S. Americans.,.....and deprive our nation of it’s leadership on the world stage.

They will stop at nothing.

Actually didn’t Steve Forbes sell to a Chinese company, several years ago now?

Just saying.

Maybe because we just set (another) all-time record bad world trade balance, with China.

Yes.

Sort of the exact same thing.

I get your point, but in fact it is exactly the same thing, in my view.

Your opinion may vary. :)
