If someone was with him, and close enough to hear what was said

Supposedly Mr. Smollett was on the phone with his manager during the course of the attack. The cell phone records should allow the police to determine the exact moment of the alleged attack if that is true.

At 2AM it is certainly possible that an individual walking alone in downtown Chicago could be assaulted. But the idea that the assault would be motivated by race or sexual orientation seems unlikely. After all, in the dark when it is below zero how would a stranger even know the sexual orientation of somebody walking down the street? And realistically you would be hard pressed to find anybody but homeless people on the street in that area at that time, few of whom seem to have any particular political persuasion, and 90 percent of whom are African Americans.

It is a well known fact that crime figures drop precipitously, during winter in Chicago. Add to that, though in recent years, thugs from the South Side have invaded some of the best neighborhoods of the North side and creating havoc and worse, that's been in much warmer temps and NOT at 2:00 A.M.!

This bozo and his manager are refusing to allow the police to look at their cell phones...so what does THAT tell you?
