For every hundred votes that Schultz would take....95-percent will come from Hillary voters or Green Party voters of 2016. I don’t think you will find more than 5-percent of the Trump 2016 voters going to Schultz.

The obvious problem is that when you offer generic alternatives you implicitly invite the person being polled to imagine the best possible option for those alternatives instead of the option they’re likely to have.

With far too many it's symbolism over substance but I think this poll is still a bit vague and way too far in the future. Where is Mr. Latte on building a wall? Has anyone asked? Where is the burnt coffee king on killing babies? As anyone asked? I think this shows the usual... people wish they had a third choice, but that NEVER works.

Given a choice between Donald Trump, a centrist Democrat, and a third-party candidate, 39% would vote for the centrist Democrat, 32% for President Trump, and 29% for the third-party option. That's assuming Schultz as the 3rd party candidate, and a "centrist" running as a democrat. Pray tell.. what candidate within the democrat party would meet the definition of "centrist?"

Well, if history tells us anything, it’s that 3rd candidates ruin the race for the established parties. Whether it’s Perot, Nader, Bloomberg or Schulz, the point is they will siphon votes.

Someone will win the election with 40% of the vote or barely more and that could conceivably be anyone of the three.

If there were ever a time when this could be true, it’s in today’s climate. I suspect that’s why we’re hearing so much about these type of potential runs. Cuban will be next.
