Seems legit.
Ran into NCLC types in fall of 74 after I was laid off from US Steel. That was after Gerry Fordtard started his Whip Inflation Now campaign. I was a production recorder and watched orders disappear practically overnight. The NCLC were pamphleteering outside the unemployment office when I signed up. That was in November 74 and I didn’t get a full time job again until February 76.
The democrats didnt embrace him?
Briton shut down the African slave trade and enslaved the Chinese on dope.
“Briton shut down the African slave trade and enslaved the Chinese on dope”.
And the American Delano family made millions in the Chinese opium trade. Delano, as in Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s grandfather.
His followers used to be seen outside post offices and supermarkets manning tables with all sorts of literature. They were very earnest, so I’ll give them that. I never figured out what they were all about.
and they would ask for your credit card information
What!! He was still alive?
When I was in college, a scroungy, hippie-looking Larouchie stood outside the student union with a bullhorn attacking a professor, who was a communist, as not being a real communist. I took his class and he was a real communist. The next year, clean-cut necktie-wearing Larouchies had a table set up in the student union that had pictures of Adam Smith and Thomas Jefferson. A friend who got to know some of them described their communal living arrangements as being cult-like. In 1986, two Larouchies blindsided the Democrats in Illinois by winning the nominations for Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of State, leading the guernatorial nominee Adlai Stevenson III to form a third party. The SOS nominee promised to send tanks to Chicago to fight crime. Larouche was a piece of work, for sure.
Janice Hart sure gave me a lot of laughs! “Give that man an aids test”. Hilarious
We met the last remaining Doolittle raid hero...
Richard Cole.
super nice man.
if my WWII hero uncle Richard Thoos were still alive he would be 102 in July.
Yep, that was a wild time.
Did you ever fly on a commercial airline in the late '70s to mid-'80s?
LaRouchies were handing out their slick magazines (what was it, Fusion or something?) at the entrance to every concourse, arriving and departing.
A few airports (not enough, though) eventually confined them to side areas where they didn't get in the way of travelers.
But you're right. It was a cult, just as much as the Moonies, not quite as much as the People's Temple.

LaRouche’s whacko group ran two candidates for Chicago Alderman back in the 1970s under the Democrat Party and they both won their primary. You have to understand that typically primary elections mean voters choose from a bunch of names they know absolutely nothing about. So their decisions are based entirely on ethnicity or the way the name sounds.
The candidates names were “Hart” and “Goodfriend”, the sort of names squishy libs can just swoon over.
The Democrat machinery went ballistic and decided to run their own “independent” opponents against them in the general election and stop both from getting elected but it was hilarious watching them do everything possible to trash their own legally-elected “D” candidate.
The man was a communist and cult leader. IF hes dead then good. One less tired to deal with
If you gave them your name when they forced a slinger on you, they were onto you like bloodsuckers for months later. I had to threaten a cease-and-desist court order before they let go.
RIP.
I thought anyone can edit Wikipedia... but who are the powers who undo changes?
