The latest storm has already passed over us here in eastern Iowa.
It has been a tough winter this year. Records broken for snowfall amount and low temperatures in January.
I cover Iowa, Nebraska, and northwestern Illinois for my job. I don’t mind snow so much but I’m really weary of icy driving conditions.

Please help me honor Master Sgt. Aaron C. Torian, 36, of Paducah, Ky., died February 15 of wounds sustained while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. God Bless him for his selfless sacrifice. God rest his hero soul! Remember them ALL! Looking into his eyes breaks my heart...... |
It puts a real knot in ones throat when we see these brave men are no longer with us......

Greetings to all at the Canteen!
To all our military men and women, past and present,
THANK YOU
for your service!
I’m still grumpy about missing out on the moon last night. When it’s that bright, it’s nice to walk around the farm without needing a flashlight.
I reckon there won’t be any moon in sight this evening since it’s snowing up there.
No rain here tonight but it’ll be back sometime tomorrow evening, they say. 2 to 4 more inches is predicted for this area and we reeeeeeeally don’t need it.
Rest in peace,
Master Sgt. Aaron C. Torian
Howdy, radu! How’s it going there? Are you still a swamp? Is it cold there or just wet? I saw that it was still raining in Rome, GA.
It’s still dry as a bone here. Our humidity sat at 14% today. No wonder my lips are cracking!
Howdy, LUV.
Yep, it’s mighty soggy here but it’s worse in other parts of the state. We have standing water but they have flooding. It wasn’t all that cold today, just damp and cloudy after the rain moved through. Thankfully that horrid wind died down this morning without taking out any of our trees.
The Berry eagles are dealing with what came through here earlier today.
Wish we could shove one of these fronts back towards y’all. You NEED it.
I don’t know what the 1000 yard stare is but it is real.
it is a feeling of abandonment and a feeling of accomplishing mission.
Going home.
amazing how some 15 year old kids from Ky summed this stuff up (squirrel bait)
He looked like he’d seen hell.
Gonna take another run a it in the AM
look out.
He is looking through you.
the empty stare comes from that.
gnight Luv
thanks for honoring the troops
You are going to have mold growing on ya if it doesn’t quit raining soon! Will it affect your planting time there? Has it slowed you down on cleaning the other houses?
I looked in at that nest. Ma just looked so wet and miserable. I always forget that their feathers are more or less waterproof.
