Trump did the right thing and it is no different from what he said he would do on the campaign trail in 2015-2016.
Repeating for the umpteenth time, Donald Trump said that DACA applicants would be handled on a CASE-BY-CASE basis.
He expressed that we need to be HUMANE dealing with people that were born here or brought here at a very young age. It is not their fault they are here. They speak English fluently, they have thought themselves Americans all their life, have friends and are part of their communities.

of the 800,000+ DACA applicants, there are many liars, many cheats. To extract these people out of the DACA pack requires investigations, time, confirmations, monitoring.
Because 0bama DHS directors were in charge of processing the DACA applicant pool, the first order of business was to rewrite evaluation policy and to get rid of 0bama political hacks. This took time.
Given the above context, of course, TPS has to be extended for a short time to give those doing the background investigations time to do their work thoroughly.
Rushing these applicants through without proper background investigations would allow liars and cheats, many bad characters to get resident status,

Donald Trump forged ahead with building the Wall just as he said he would do. He does not and never did need the Democrats approval for the Wall. He exposed them by inserting a DACA resolution carrot into his negotiations with them. He wanted to show the American Latino-Hispanic voters what the Democrats were really all about. He played the Democrats masterfully.
The political fallout is that Donald Trump is garnering a large part of the Latino/Hispanic American vote because they see him as establishing security at the border and at the same time showing he is an all-round humane good leader who can be trusted to do the right thing.
The political fallout also extends to witnessing the Democrats deny DACA resolution in favor of showing their disapproval for the Wall. This caused a revolt in the Latin-Hispanic-American demographic against the Democrats going so far as to corner Pelosi and scream at her “ Enough is enough! Just give him money for the Wall already!”. Since then the Latin-American communities have warmed greatly to Trump because of two basic things:
1. He is not caving on building the Wall. (Latin-Americans want it too)
2. He is fair to Latinos brought here as children or born here if they can prove it.
In their eyes, Trump is a great leader and humanitarian with a no-nonsense tough demeanor, and they respect that.
