“”The whole guv official calling a biz for such favors thing makes me queasy.””

When did the president’s SIL become a government official? Some people just can’t help themselves - they have some gripe about a person and just shoot from the hip without thinking!
Never a silver lining. Too bad.

He’s a senior adviser to the president, mucking up any policy he can get his hands on.

And no, no silver linings re: Jared and Ivanka’s influence on the Trump admin. Trump is a hero and Don Jr. is as well. The others we unfortunately have to put up with.

But I don’t like Trump strong-arming private businesses from the WH either.

So you’re alright with crime as long as it happens to someone else?
*************************
No, I’m tired of politicians trying to score the tough on crime vote by criminalizing petty annoyances. Everything that annoys someone does not warrant being codified as criminal activity.

Ok what’s a petty annoyance and what’s a crime to you?
Since you’re the arbitrator on this.

Well if you want examples then recent ones include the bump stock ban where we just created a bunch of felons for owning what amounts to a toy that’s only useful for blowing off ammo at a dirt mound and the action of which can be easily replicated by a rubber band with some ingenuity. Another would be perp walking a 77 year old billionaire for getting a handjob from a whore.

The mantra nowadays seems to be that is someone is having fun at an activity then they should probably do jail time for it.

The statistics don’t lie, we jail far more people than any other place on earth. Do you think we have worse people than anywhere else? I don’t, I think our criminal justice system is out of control and needs to be reined in. A billionaire football team owner is capable of fighting stupidity like this because he has money, others can’t afford to and end up having their lives ruined for minor offenses.

I am with you on the bump stock.

Prostitution not a federal crime. Personally I don’t think it should be legal but to me its up to the locale to decide. It does not improve the quality of life where it is legal. I’ve been all over the world and I have not seen a place improved by it. Anyway the local laws should reflect the local mores. Its their society not yours. You don’t like it leave!
