SNL is comedy nor funny.

“Comedy”? Not since Dan Akroyd, John Belushi, Jane Curtin, Gilda Radner, and Chevy Chase. And Steve Allen and Johnny Carson.
A steady stream of mean-spirited invective and cursing, “white men are sure stupid,” and “Trump is sure stupid” is not comedy.
That's for sure. How do you go through life hating everything except perversion and get your kicks destroying the millennia-old institutions that created civilization? You have to be one mean, bitter person to do that every day.
And, if you don’t watch (see #4 above by PGR88) then you are NOT sophisticated or brilliant.
I hear the laughter of many NPCs during their shows.

Yep, that’s all it has been for some time now.
I used to enjoy the original Saturday Night Live when it first came on. Those halcyon days did not last that long.
And while I did like it I was never a fan of Chevy Chase or John Belushi. I didn’t think either one of them was funny. And the one thing I did dislike was the constant bashing of Gerald Ford. It was neither cutting-edge nor was it funny. It was juvenile and insulting.
Remember SCTV? that was the best!
Out of self preservation, they may slide - perhaps unintentionally - back to the “politically neutral” routine. At least for a while.
They’ll come back to the meth soon enough, though.
Can we get back to humor aka Leno and Carson, and get rid of the meanness?

It has ben dead long before this. Today there is no college comedian circuit because triggering.
For 2.5 years, liberal comedy has consisted of one joke: “orange man bad.”
this exoneration just changes which version of that one joke.
Note: ALL the major comedians say the same.
They will just keep doing it.

My liberal SIL who was in her 50s at the time, told me in conversation a few years back that she gets her news from Colbert. And she used to be quite conservative and a Christian. It’s distressing what’s happened to that family.
They should hire Jerry Seinfeld, who avoids politics, to provide some guidance. There are a million things happening that could be skit worthy that doesn't have to be political. I think SNL thinks that they want to change the world instead of making people laugh.
