Ask yourself why Russia has such a small population even though it has more than twice the land we have. If they were so happy and Christian they would have more children. Their population is continuously shrinking. Maybe the people are not so happy and don’t want to subject their children to the burden of Putin and Russia.

I know many people in Russia and only two 30 somethings who are childless. Two children is quite a norm now and three aren’t rare anymore. Pregnant women are all around in the streets.

Not since Ol’ Putin put their government plan to work to reward parents who have kids. All sorts of perks from cash to housing discounts and on and on. Frankly it’s working. It’s made having the expense of children far less and the Russian people are very happy about it.

In Ukraine it depends on whom you talk to. In the Donbass region of eastern Ukraine there is a pro Russian sentiment. West of the Dneiper, the opposite prevails.

Alcoholism is a serious problem—average life expectancy for Russian men is about 65.3 years (vs. 77.1 years for women). In Poland the figures are 73.9 and 81.8 respectively. Figures in Hungary and in Georgia are similar to those in Poland. In the US they are 77.7 and 82.2.

If Russians are having 2 and occasionally 3 children when they are around 30, then the population will stabilize if their children continue the pattern. Many Russian women work, so this pattern may hold unlike third world countries where uneducated women are often forced to marry in their teens and have large families.
