My home state is indeed a leader in political corruption and legislative perfidy New Jersey is quite beautiful in terms of farms, horse farms in particular, lakes, The Jersey Shore, the unique beauty of The Pine Barrens and of course many historic battlefield sites from The Revolution.

I will agree with you on that. I got transferred to New Jersey for four years. Once you get away from the industry and slums near NYC, the state is indeed quite beautiful as you say.

My Georgia born and raised wife, however, considered New Jersey to be a foreign country and asked almost every day when were we going home (Texas) where people were much more friendly.

Check out the well-known book, BLACKS IN BLUE & GRAY by the late Professor H. R. Blackerby, formerly of the Morehouse College & Arkansas AM&N University Departments of History for more on Black Confederates.

Not to be confused with H.C. Blackerby, who also wrote a book called Blacks in Blue and Gray, but who wasn't a college professor but was instead a former comic book publisher.

Ah yes, the ever-elusive Blacks In Blue & Gray

(As far as I know, the book is currently “out-of-print” but it is available from Inter-Library Loan & sometimes from Amazon.com or ebay.com.)

You know, Swattie said the same thing (verbatim!) but it only took me a single trip online to order mine. Say, did you ever find that submarine?

There are at least 10 copies on sale on Amazon right now, for an average price of 12 bucks, including shipping.
