How does he pass a child safety background check? Why bother with them if they are going to let known pedophiles teach?

Well if you read the excerpt through to the end:

Um, a single incident of several years! Of him abusing a child under his care? It's not like it was just some random girl he knew, it was a 14 year old in his youth group, of which he was the priest! And it took two years of this before he managed to get her pregnant, and only left the priesthood FOUR YEARS after that! This is just like many other cases of sexual abuse: trusted person with power/authority over the one getting abused. That type of relationship is not simply 'consensual'.

Thanks for the clarification - my first read saw the “... left the priesthood in 1994, four years after he impregnated a teenage girl in a church youth group...” and my mind filled in the rest with incorrect info...can I take my pass back so he doesn’t try to redeem it?
