Well, this is what happens all the time in many social/political/religious organizations. Good folks are so bought in that they loose perspective, and the innocents suffer. Turn the other cheek applies to a mature adult being insulted by a brother or sister, not a parent allowing their child to be abused by an adult regardless of whom they may be. Group think- threaten a person of a certain faith system with unholy conditions and you find many folks roll over for it rather than be persecuted by the powers that be. It is part of the human condition.
This is why we Americans ought to practice living by the rule of law and not of man in the social context. Personally, we should live by the grace and by the Faith of the Son of God ( Jesus the Christ).
The Archdiocese of New Orleans paid $20M a few years ago to keep cases out of court. Like a fart in the wind. Gone.
Watch the self-glory. If you asked God, you would get a prosaic “Be there with your kid and let Me deal with the miscreant.”

Adults who do these things to children, especially in these circumstances, deserve no quarter.

Again, the answer in your situation is to be a live leader, not a dead hero. God will see to it that if he will not repent, his only quarter is hell.
And self glory is just that, ideas of glory narrowed to self. God will not have quarter to you for abandoning your post.
