WOW! That IS a lot of rain especially considering how dry it was these past few weeks. Your corn and YOU are going to be happy. :)
I’ll need to go to sleep soon. Darn early mornings. At least it’s the only one this week. See ya tomorrow! Enjoy your Sunday. Sleep in! I’ll be jealous.
We’ve had 3 inches the last two days and it is most welcome. A few heavy downpours but it’s been primarily a nice, gentle, soaking rain.
Hubby isn’t going to be happy about it when he has to hit the mower again though. LOL
Sleep well. Bummer you have to go out at all tomorrow since it’s going to be so hot.
How's everyone doing this morning?
Spot on: The purpose of the many tongues was solely for the purpose of proclaiming Jesus Christ as Son of the living God, Crucified and Risen.
Shavua Tov.
Wishing all our Jewish troops, veterans, families, allies, friends, and Canteeners
a peaceful and prosperous week.
Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))
I gather you and Gizmo were able to get out to the lake yesterday. It looked pretty calm out your way when I checked the radar when I got up.
No storms here. Just a nice amount of rain.
Prayers for our troops, veterans, families, allies, friends, and Canteeners
for a safe and peaceful week ahead.
He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.
May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.
May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.
G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.
And then there was someone revving an engine on the other side of the lake. A PD unit came over and pulled out a bullhorn and yelled "TURN IT OFF". and the officer watched over him like a hawk.
So it was a crazy day yesterday.((LOL)) We'll see how today goes.
God Bless our military men and women who have given their all.
Thanks, unique.
No surprise the shrubbery ha grown so much with all the rain out there lately. All kinds of places now for lil critters to hide and Gizmo can dig for. LOL
We hear boaters revving engines on the lake here too. Just gotta hot-dog. Glad we don’t live right on the water but we’re plenty close enough to hear the racket.
We did! And it was glorious!
And this pulls the theology together. God’s intent, with respect to means of communication known in the world, is that they be used as conduits of the Spirit in His evangelization and praise purposes.
I wrote a poem several years ago from what was on my heart at the time. We do need the Pentecostal power. May God grant us copiously “to be all things [not of themselves sinful] to all men in order that some may be saved.” The fruit will be amazing.
[verse 1]
What hath God wrought?
This question was sought
From the old Supreme Court
To Baltimore depot by the port;
In eighteen forty-four
The Lord opened up the door
To sharing His word
By wire as far as could be heard.
[chorus]
What hath God wrought?
Those who by His blood were bought
Proclaim the answer far and wide
By every means o’er hill and tide;
Whether by air or Internet
Or mouth to mouth, “God canceled our debt
So that our souls forever are free —
Give everyone this wondrous key!”
[verse 2]
What hath God wrought?
The awe of God that once we taught
Has fallen on the ground;
Scarcely more is heard its sound —
God grieves from heaven so,
He wants His people again to know
What mighty words and deeds
Grow from faith like mustard seeds.
[chorus]
What hath God wrought?
Those who by His blood were bought
Proclaim the answer far and wide
By every means o’er hill and tide;
Whether by air or Internet
Or mouth to mouth, “God canceled our debt
So that our souls forever are free —
Give everyone this wondrous key!”
[verse 3]
What hath God wrought?
O let His Spirit again be caught
By the hearts of yearning men
Who would see glory once again;
O let a boldness like a lion
Again be seen in Abraham’s scion
And all adopted in his faith
Speak up again before it’s too late.
[chorus]
What hath God wrought?
Those who by His blood were bought
Proclaim the answer far and wide
By every means o’er hill and tide;
Whether by air or Internet
Or mouth to mouth, “God canceled our debt
So that our souls forever are free —
Give everyone this wondrous key!”

Your third stanza:
What hath God wrought?
O let His Spirit again be caught
By the hearts of yearning men
Who would see glory once again;
has captured the essence of the Orthodox Troparion (primary Hymn) of Pentecost:
Blessed are You, O Christ our God, *
Who has shown the fishermen to be all wise, *
by sending down to them the Holy Spirit, *
and through them You have caught the whole world in Your net.
* O Lover of Mankind, glory to You.
If I have contributed anything to the picture, it isn’t to furnish any more formal logic (the bible does that just fine), it is rather to color it so brightly and well that the modern attention can be caught.
And happily, as the bible goes to great pains to describe love, we have a basis to point out the ends of His mystery. “Implementation details” are His, but again what kind of mortal fool would ever think to be able to keep up with that? The result of trying is unhelpful things like the Calvin vs. Arminius debate, where we try to do either-or thinking where God is carrying out both-and thinking in a domain that we can’t grasp because it is His (the secret things belong unto the Lord).
And God programs many “Easter eggs” into His creation, to use a metaphor familiar to software application developers. Why? Because He desires passionately to emphasize that He is living, just like the program with the “Easter egg” is bearing testimony that a live programmer was behind it.
The result, happily for me, is poems and songs that virtually write themselves. I reviewed the history of the first long-distance telegram demonstration, and yes... the equipment on the Washington end was set up in the old Supreme Court chambers, and the equipment on the Baltimore end was set up at a depot (which Google Maps showed me was by a port, giving me a word to rhyme with).
Where better to ask a question concerning mankind, than from an old supreme court? And it was engineers who put this apparatus together. I don’t believe that poets did, except for the Poet in heaven, of course.
The reference about boldness like a lion also ties into the Old Testament passage that contains the original reference to “What hath God wrought?”. Here, Balaam had been paid to curse Israel, but all Balaam could come up with was praises to God about His work in Israel! What a way to rebuke Satan. What a way.
Did I dream this up in my own intelligence? No. The best role my intelligence has served here is to have perceived what God already has said and done for all eternity, and to perceive it in colorful terms.
