“MaCArthur” with Gregory Peck during the seventies as well as “Inchon” with the same, IIRC.

I read “One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich”

Probably did more to convince me that I didn’t want nor support anything associated with pinko politics.

Arrrrgh! Cabbage soup...every day.

Oh and the barbed wire, torture, bitter cold and sleeping arrangements.

But Cabbage soup...every day. Arrrgh!

I was 14 when I read it.

... the movie must:
have been produced in whole or in part by an American studio (which excludes such excellent films as Poland’s Man of Iron and Germany’s The Lives of Others).

Why?

The best movies are made by people who have some living connection to the events they're bringing to the screen.

Good American anti-Communist movies aren't that common because American filmmakers didn't live under communism.

The second remake was utter GARBAGE; do NOT bother seeing it!

The '70s one wasn't horrific, but had lost almost ALL of the "punch" of the original '50's version!

OTOH...the 1984 version of 1984 is the best one!

K-19 The Widowmaker. Really surprised it didn’t make the list.

I found “Advise and Consent” to not be very friendly to commies, to my surprise.

Polish Army stops the Red Army from rolling into Europe after WWI & the Russian Revolution.

Second time Poland saves European civilization!

‘Hollywood Ten’ cited for contempt of Congress 70 years ago (Nov 24 1947)

(Monday, November 24, 1947; during the Second Red Scare and the Cold War) — The U.S. House of Representatives voted 346 to 17 today to approve citations for contempt of Congress against a group of writers, producers and directors that became known as the “Hollywood Ten” for refusing to tell the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) whether they were members of the Communist party (NOTE: most were).

The author missed a MAJOR one.

THIS GUN FOR HIRE (1942),which made Alan Ladd's career, was about a ruthless hitman who, at the end of tthe movie, sacrifices his life to stop a communist plot.
