You know....I thought about that Confederate Stars and Bars comparison as well, and suspect the same thing. Probably 90-percent of society has zero interest in flags, and they would easily get confused about the history behind the flags.

What about the queers co-opting the rainbow to signify pride? They co-opted it from God. It was His symbol first. Worked well for hundreds of years until the queerest stole it for their own. Now you can’t see one of those flags without thinking g of them instead of God’s symbol.
