Metropolitan Jackson is around 600,000 way up from the 275,000 in the late 70s and early 80s when I last lived there
It comprises the city county of Hinds which is slightly less black than the city proper at 70%, and the mostly white Rankin and Simpson and Madison and Copiah counties
Overall metro is 60% White and the outlying counties are quite livable and whites are 80 to 90 percent fairly conservative to very much so
Madison is pretty posh in places including the states only billionaire clan the Lamptons as are parts of Rankin on the reservoir as well as large landholders in Simpson and Copiah
Copiah county on little bayou Pierre is some of the best whitetail hunting in the country btw
Private schools are cheap there 5-12,000 a year and some areas have decent public schools like northwest Rankin
Rankin was always the white county and only blacks left over from the old days with family farms and whatnot were welcomed ...to be honest though now blacks have encroached heavily from Jackson across the Pearl River into Pearl
