So then, is an AR-15 pattern rifle painted pink with “Hello Kitty” decals on it OK?
“Shall not be infringed”
If it’s not covered by “the Right”, laws against it aren’t an infringement. They will try to convince people that whatever they want to ban is not covered.
Just a regular Alice Capone there, eh?
“Exactly what kind of message are the police trying to send with their legions of cops ALL outfitted with ACTUAL weapons of war and military gear?”
This message: “We ARE the law!! Bow down and obey us, or die!!!”
I think thats pretty much it!
So.....pander to ignorant snowflakes feelings by surrendering some of your freedom?
How about No?
“Do you know what an entrenching tool is? Is it just a folding shovel? No, it is a weapon of war.”
So is the machete sumdood used to kill 4 and injure others last night in CA.
The Soviet army teaches shovel fighting techniques. Their entrenching tool is non folding with a short handle. The shovel blade can be sharpened to a razor’s edge and it can be wielded as a mace or hurled like a tomahawk.
Yes, a shovel can be used as a weapon of war.
Theyve designed guns to look more and more like weapons of war.
Theyve designed guns to look more and more like weapons of war. They are advertised with images of heavily armored soldiers.
Truth be told...I've not ever bought one.
In my personal opinion, most of them are simply pedestrian junk.
I've seen better wood on a broom handle and most of the tolerances are, well, shall we say, loose?
I have noted that there are some manufacturers that are putting more effort into them, thus the cost, as precision work is expensive.
But I've not seen one in any kind of condition that would compare with a mainstream AR-style black rifle.
AK's are for bouncing around in the floorboard of a jeep or a pickup, going long periods without seeing a cleaning rod, operator friendliness and ease of manufacture.
Exactly what Comrade Kalashnikov designed them for.
But, they will kill as well as any other weapon, so there is that.
But they ain't got no class...period.
That a Kissin' Cousin to "I am an NRA/gun owner but [fill in the latest gun control meme]"
You make an excellent point.
Why not both?
I vote 7.62 x 51 mm (.308 Winchester). Give me a real cartridge.
An AR-10 weighs 2.3 pounds more than an AR-15.
200 rounds of M80 ammunition (7.62 x 51mm) in magazines weighs 13 pounds.
200 rounds of M193 ammunition (5.56 x 45mm) in magazines weighs 7.2 pounds.
AR-15 with M193 ammo: Maximum Effective Rage: 600 yards, Ballistic Drop Compensated (BDC) Scope Maximum Effective Range 1300 yards, Maximum Range 3900 yards.
AR-10 with M80 ammo: Maximum Effective Range 1000 yards, BDC Scope Maximum Effective Range 1733 yards, Maximum Range 5600 yards.
I've got my fair share of time "humping a pack." I'm willing to pay that 8.1 pound weight penalty for the improved performance.
More than a few states will not let you hunt game with a rifle chambered in 5.56 x 45mm. The round is too small to reliably take down medium and large game animals. That is definitely not a problem with the 7.62 x 51mm cartridge.
Of course, I'm old school enough that I still prefer a M1911 .45 cal ACP over any 9mm pistol.
