The misconception people who support a universal basic income have is that they think all the other government programs and supports will remain static. They won’t. Implement UBI and SSN goes away. 401K and IRA accounts go away. TANF, SNAP, etc. all go away. They just aren’t saying that, because then people would realize it’s just a wealth redistribution scheme. If I honestly believed the feds were going to pay Hubby and me $1K each, in addition to letting us keep SSN, our pensions, 401K, etc., he and I would be set for life. I’d stop working and retire early. Sorry, Bernie, given that option, I wouldn’t be lining up to work. But, that’s not the case.

That was the first clue that her Green New Deal had nothing to do with climate change.
But it had everything to do with changing our economic system from capitalism to socialism.
When a politician has to promise free stuff, including $1,000 a month in cash, to get people to vote for them, they will not make a good president.
Presidents are "leaders". The democRATS promising this free stuff are not leaders.
They are carnival barkers. "Get your free stuff! Free stuff over here. Step right up."

Listening to these guys, I thought all they want to do is go to the doctor all day long.
How do we Register as Illegals? I’ve read they get $78,000 in annual benefits.

They never saw the entitlement mentality of welfare recipients.
They do NOT, no way under the sun, want to do anything but drugs and booze.
It will never happen since it would deplete a vast bureaucracy formed to address poverty, but simply paying poor people enough to make them no longer poor would be cheaper than the vast array of existing programs. Of course then the liberals will lament that even though the poor receive a universal basic income they still need assistance since they wasted the money on luxuries and can't buy food for the kids, or pay the rent.
I have seen studies suggesting that the full value of housing, food, medical, and other benefits aimed at relieving poverty are worth more than $30,000 per year for a single mother in a major city. Delivering that set of benefits is likely to cost the taxpayers twice that amount.

I asked him if Finland with largely a homogenizes society with less than 2% of our population and probably a 3rd of the percentage of the deadbeats that we have cant make it work, how would the USA? It shut him up, never to heard from again.
Right after he creates communal farms for every city and town in the US. Of course the major cities will be exempt because we all know that is where all the production for everything that will be deemed good for the masses will be produced.
Which will have to be matched with a new tax averaging $1500 per month for each citizen (extra to pay for the bureaucrats to administer it).
Socialists need slave labor. Can’t just give away Bernie money, they have to prove themselves worthy and dig their ditch first.
