I wish the HK protesters success. Perhaps they can somehow convince their fellow countrymen in the mainland to join in, but there isn't a thing the U.S. can do (or should do) to "support" them aside from getting a better for the U.S. trade deal that could substantially hurt the Chinese economy.

This is their revolution...not ours. They should not expect us to send our ships of the line to support them.

If anyone can help them then Trump is the one.

IMO, Trump has a dream of destroying the CCP.

If the CCP gives in to Trump’s trade demands they will eventually fall.

If they do not deal honourably with Trump and lose US trade then they fall.

Since Trump will not kowtow to the CCP they have only one option to remain in power and it is a frightening option...you know what I am alluding to here :-/

Trump is perfectly prepared to deal with the thugs running China.

He dealt with, and bested, the New York mob as a developer.

Trump will defeat the CCP by taking their money away. Without money they cannot control an enormous population of smart people.

Pretty much all evil in the world is perpetrated by those seeking money (and control)

It is a rare man who cannot be bought, Trump is that rare man. Would that the House and Senate were comprised entirely of such.

Keeping the troops in Afghanistan was a gift from Zero to his Iranian mullahs. Once we've vacated that hell-hole, the local gentry there, and Pakistan, and northern Iran, will shred every last bit of civilized behavior that has managed to survive in those places.

Yes I do.

I am HOPING that the leaders of China are not like muslims in that dying means nothing to them.

They were willing to risk a nuclear attack during the Korean war. They knew the threat if they got involved and they didn’t care.

I dont know Asian culture well at all but I do know it seems like none of those countries go down easy!!

Whatever will come, will come, I guess.

Wonder why they’re not calling for help from the Democratic candidates for president?

Actually, Muslims love death via martyrdom. It is their only guaranteed way into paradise.

They were willing to risk a nuclear attack during the Korean war. They knew the threat if they got involved and they didn’t care.

Always heard it said since the Korean War that the ChiCom leadership was OK with losing millions of its people in a nuclear exchange if the end result left them in an advantageous position against the U.S./ U.S.S.R. Of course the ChiChoms and Russia seem to be repairing their alliance against the U.S.

Well that’s pretty scary!!

A lot has changed with nukes since the 50s.

I hope they know no one wins.

It’s just that very few weapons have been made to never be used.

Though I know by it’s nature, nukes are in a category all their own.

The idea that we will ever be out of Afghanistan and other mid east hot spots is a pipe dream. We now have the biggest power, world order position that Great Britain had 100 years ago. Keeping the enemy pinned down so it doesn’t spread easily is now our burden. The existential burden of “whiteness?”

And the UK lost its world dominance right after WWI. The cost of maintaining the extended empire and WWI broke them. Their slide into irrelevancy since WWII has been difficult to watch. And here we are, US$23T in debt and a bitterly politically divided nation. Affairs look very bleak, but I am all in with POTUS #45 DJT. Please keep sending prayers up on his behalf and our nation's.

We wouldn’t be $23T in debt if the richest people in the country were paying their fair share in taxes for wages like $10 and $20 million a year. Instead we lower middle class elderly are now paying taxes on our Social Security benefit. In 1983 when both parties agreed to tax upper middle income and higher SS recipients on their benefits, the IRS page of calculations included a $25,000 deduction for singles, and $32,000 for couples. Well, guess what, that figure is still the same after 36 years of steady inflation. So now, instead of taxing upper middle class it is also hitting lower middle class elderly. I discovered this when after some years of collecting SS without paying any tax on that benefit, I suddenly began to have to also pay that tax in amounts that increased each year even though my relative total annual income had not changed during that period. So, I went back to my old tax records, and sure enough, each year from 1983 to 2014 had the same $25K and $32K deduction. By now it should be close to $60K and $80K deduction, so as usual, the lower middle class is being scrxxxx. No wonder the Trump base is so pixxed. This is the same issue as the Alternative Minimum Tax issue which also became a problem as NO cost of living increase had been factored into that law. Thank heavens, the AMT was eliminated by Trump. Now, let’s urge him to bring the IRS SS tax calculation page up to current CPI levels.

From some conservatives I have heard complaints that Trump has done nothing to show his support.

Here in Canada the pro-China crowds among Chinese Canadians are almost as large as the anti-Crowds. Stunning. I have heard mainland Chinese support their government.

That’s actually not a bad idea, except that then SS goes bankrupt even sooner. Fill in with tariffs’ revenues?

How could the Dems fight this? Granted, it’d likely help Pres. Trump considerably, but what would the Dems’ argument in opposition be?

Until Ronald Reagan's tax proposals got taxed, there had never been indexing of the income tax brackets. AMT is just an abomination. So are "carbon credits" and other grifter scams that benefit Demwit politicians like Al "Jazeera" Gore.

I only wrote about part of the economic problem tackled bipartisan in 1983. The other half was a decision that 90% of all money earned each the year (Tax Max) would have a deduction taken (FICA). The problem is that under Reagan’s administration upper salaries were growing 10 and 20% each year, while the Tax Max deduction was only being increased by inflation, usually 2 to 4%, Thus, for a number of years we have only been deducting Tax Max from 82% of wages earned each year. Restore the deduction to 90% rate and there will be enough for my other suggestion. Maybe increase it by 1% for several years to make up for the 8% that has been missing all this time. I’ll bet a lot of the guys who lost their well paid jobs in 2008 wish that the full 90% deduction level had been in force when they were making good money.

Social Security (FICA) is just fine the way it is. And the rich pay way over 90 percent of personal income taxes. Corporate income taxes are borne indirectly by people who can't get jobs because they've gone overseas where taxes are lower.
