It’s great! Finally I get something for all the tens of thousands of property taxes I’ve been paying. And I have two kids ready to go to college.
Texas has no income tax, so...
NM guvner is very busy choking out the mining, oil and gas and fracking businesses in her state. Wonder what wellspring of money she foresees to pay for it? One of the poorest states and tax hikes won’t make it, hardly any taxpayers left, just entitlement spenders. I assume she sees a great influx of federal school grant money heading her way.
Section 505 of the 1996 Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act (IIRIRA) states, an alien who is not lawfully present in the United States shall not be eligible on the basis of residence within a State (or a political subdivision) for any postsecondary education benefit unless a citizen or national of the United States is eligible for such a benefit (in no less an amount, duration, and scope) without regard to whether the citizen or national is such a resident.

It’s “free” here in Georgia as long as you have and maintain a GPA over 3-3.2 (it’s changed over the years). It’s called the Hope Scholarship and the lottery pays for it. I have a child who attended Georgia Tech for 4 years and we didn’t pay a dime of tuition. Our only costs were books, fees and room and board.
Great we will educate our kids so they can move to another state that has jobs.
