I was too young to make such judgements back then, but I certainly do not recall the solemn-faced Mudd arguing the case of hysterical Leftists during his broadcasts, nor even the case of the pretentious, over-rated Uncle Walter.
The real journalists from back then would probably prefer to stay in the grave than join the pack of rabid hyenas of today.
Roger Mudd (now 91 years old) deserves some credit for helping to kill Teddy Kennedy’s chances of becoming President. Chappaquiddick probably ended those chances, but perhaps without Roger Mudd’s interview Teddy might have managed to win the Democratic nomination for President.
That I DO remember...a moment much, much to Mudd’s credit.
Nowadays the clownish press will hold up a debate or certainly a Q.& A. in order that a numbskull like Biden might change a moronic answer one more time, and a few more times after that.
Imagine how the howling pack would have turned on Roger Mudd today.
