From all indications, the Trump campaign is making a big dent into the usual automatic Democratic control of blacks and Hispanics. There have been strong indicators published.

If the Republicans win 70% of the white vote, they’re basically INVINCIBLE and will be that way for the next generation.

As to ‘trends’, have a look at Texas:

Rep/Dem presidential candidate

1988...55/43... R+12
1992...40/37... R+3
1996...48/43... R+5
2000...59/37... R+22 (1)
2004...61/38... R+23 (1)
2008...55/43... R+12
2012...57/41... R+16
2016...52/43... R+9 (2)

(1): Bush Jr, former governor and very well-liked (back then), got extra support
(2): Bad blood between Trump and Cruz hurt Trump to some extent (and then spilled into Cruz’s re-election in 2018).

Look at 1992 - years before Bush Jr. opened the floodgates to immigration (of all types). That year, Bush Sr. BARELY took Texas.

Look at 2008 and 2012 - still healthy wins in Texas for our pathetic Republican candidates

Look at 2016 - Even with Cruz acting like a crybaby, Trump still won by 9 points. Remove Cruz’s antics, and the margin would have been closer to 12 points (or more)...really no different than 20 years earlier.

So, even with Texas being flooded with Hispanics, it’s not moving the Presidential Election. So why not - simple, Hispanics here are voting 40% plus Republican...to put it another way, they’re virtually cancelling out their own votes (they’re not as dumb as the Democrats thought).

I realize that this doesn’t necessarily apply in other states, particularly California, but my point is that it is INSANE to panic and simply toss off the white vote, and if Trump had done that, he would have gotten wiped out in the Midwest.

The new demographic shift that Hurd, an African American of all things, refers to is the massive tsunami unskilled, illiterate third worlders being brought ( note intentional use of brought as opposed to coming because they are being actively brought here by agenda driven interests) are coming to replace the unreliable African American voters that Democrats must pander for support and mother hen to get them to the voters booth.

Once the Dems get a critical mass of illegals they so they won’t have to pander to Black voters, they will be able to throw black people under the bus

Hurd is traitor to his fellow African Americans

Your comment was exactly what I thought myself when I saw this headline - why is this guy leaving so soon if this is what he believes?

He’s not entirely wrong that we need more of our minority members to show themselves and run for office but they need to also know the party will have their back and support them - because they know they would be targeted more fiercely by the Left above any other GOP candidate - witness what they are doing to Daniel Cameron in Kentucky - he’s a black candidate but portrayed as supporting the KKK.

Any so-called “republican” stating this nonsense to the uber leftist Axios should tell you all you need to know about this “republican”.

The guy is a “Bush League” RINO and he is leaving because he knows he doesn’t stand a chance of re-election.

Yeah what they needed to do was control immigration for the benefit of American citizens, not be overrun by it.

Translation: Republicans must cater to minorities and bash whites just like the Dems are doing.

No thanks.

“As for the state in Congress that Hurd is leaving, he said it is up for grabs in the 2020 election, as Texas is trending purple.”

Nonsense.

The problem has really been that minorities haven’t adopted a politically conservative mindset in mass numbers. They haven’t embraced the Constitution in mass numbers.

Yet I see some progress in that respect. The alternative is to turn away from conservative principles. What would be the point of that? Then there would be two Democrat parties and finally a one party system.

Will Hurd will be another Michael Steele-type fake Republican who will turn up on CNN or MSNBC decrying the conservatism of the GOP.

If Bush League Republicans have their way there won’t be a United States of America.

We will have been fundamentally transformed illegally against our will into North Mexico.

The GOP needs to back amnesty, that’s the bottom line for Bush League Republicans.
If we don’t suck up to illegal aliens, they won’t vote GOP.

I’d prefer we remove them to their own countries so they don’t vote at all.
