Happy Birthday Marines!!!

I quit school on my 17th birthday (9OCT) and went to the USMC recruiting office with all intentions to join.
Seems the Gunny was out to lunch and the Navy recruiter told me I should fill out the forms while waiting for the Marine to return.
After filling out the forms, the Chief told me I would be a good fit in the USN and signed me up. (Good for him..HA HA)

Anyhow, I had to wait a month to join a company that was being formed and we were sworn in at Halftime during the SF 49ers/LA Rams game BUT my ‘official’ enlistment date was 11/10/1956, so it is also my 63 anniversary, which happens to be USMC BD....so I didn’t completely ‘wig out’.
