I think by skipping the debates he has nothing to lose. At the time the debates will be scheduled most people will likely know how they will vote, and it will likely be a landslide in Trump’s favor, assuming it’s a fair election.
The debates will likely be the nastiest, most one sided mess in the history of debates. He has nothing to gain by attending this circus.
All Trump has to do in just run on his record and let the left have their hissy fits.
Not a good idea. What would be a good idea would be holding out against the leftist media running the debates. We need at least neutral organizers, moderators, etc.
Having listened to Donna Brazile from time to time, she’s not quite as looney as many on the Left.
Still, what she did about those debate questions in the last election is hard to forgive or forget.
The more I think about it ... nix the debates, use the time for a Trump rally.

I would advise him to go into them and channel his inner Mitt Romney, just sound and act as reasonable and bland as possible. The only people he can add to his voter base would be centrists who are put off by his brash personality. So to get them on side he needs to downplay their reasons to dislike him, and at the same time he could calmly, reasonably state what good things he has done and will do in the future, contrasting that with the potential harm of the opponent’s stated plans.
I don’t think skipping the debates would cost him much either. Basically there is almost no part of his declared base of support that he can lose. His main threat is vote fraud rather than the popularity of any opponent. He should invest a lot of effort in fighting vote fraud ahead of the 2020 election.
I HOPE that it's the Old Queen! POTUS doesn't need softballs from Fox and the L-tards will have little to go per her Pissiness. Plus, Trump can demolish her, if need be. He already demolished MEgan's career.
The debates actually helped Dubya over Gore, because everyone got to see what an ass Al Gore really was (is).
The debates were an important part of his demolishing the Republican candidates and exposing the bias of the press in the debates with Hillary. One of the best soundbites was the ironic answer when they asked him if he would accept the results of the election if Hillary won and he replied “I’ll wait and see if I need to file a legal challenge”. Everybody was so outraged at the idea until he won.
It’s beginning to look like the debates are going to be a rematch with Hillary. Trump has so much more material to go after her that it would be must see TV even if Donna Brazille can’t pass her the questions this time.
They could do one night on the “Lolita Express” and one on email security policies. They could compare donor lists for their family foundations. Maybe Hillary could get Bernie Sanders to run as her VP. They became so close during the last election.
Please don’t cancel the debates just yet. Once Hillary gets in and Joe Biden quits to prepare for his trial it will be the greatest show on earth.
Let his opponent do three townhalls with questions from a the first 30 people in the Staten Island phonebook.
Before dropping out, Trump should make this very reasonable suggestion: Four moderators. Two are picked by the Republican candidate and two are picked by the Democrat candidate
Nothing could be fairer. And if that suggestion is rejected, then Trump should drop out.
Have debates without moderators
Yeah, let’s get creative.
Obtain a private venue.
Bring in real moderators, not prog hacks and biased media.
Mark Levin, Candace Owens, Liz Wheeler, Steven Crowder, perhaps one more.
Invite their nominee after they figure out who this will be.
Have a real debate with honest timekeepers, no advance question passing, no trick podiums for the prog nominee.
Kick back and watch PDJT slice the prog up.

Think of this... the viewing audience would be low and he could hold Trump Rallies instead...go to the people like he already has!!

Well as a minimum Trump should refuse to participate in any debate hosted by CNN. Just like a college football team can get banned from the following year bowl games if caught cheating, so CNN should be banned from hosting any 2020 debates since they were caught cheating, giving Hillary the questions in advance, in 2016.
